What I had was a not-very-good extract. I found a Tunis Mucklewain in Nicholas Co., VA, in 1820. This surname has many variants, McElwain, Macklewayne, etc. Tunis is a variant of the Dutch "Teunis", a diminutive of Antonius. Henry Propts died after 8 Jul 1813, prob. not in Rockingham, as he was a private in Capt. Robert Hooke's Company, 58th Regiment, Virginia Volunteers, which entered service on that date. See Chalkley's Chronicles, Vol. 2, p. 214, Kizer vs. Propst. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
