    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: slkmallow Surnames: Sites, Moyers, Harper, Valentine, Graham, Rohrbaugh Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.westvirginia.counties.pendleton/1725.1.1.1.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Just to tie up a few loose ends and to try to set the record straight: Celia Sites Moyers was not a resident of Pendleton County in 1891 when - according to your own research - she and her husband sold her interest in Jesse Harper's estate. She was a resident of Grant County. Although Benjamin's WWI draft card does indicate that he was born in Pendleton County, his birth recording http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=514891&Type=Birth indicates that he was born in Hopeville (Grant County) 11 miles north of Mouth of Seneca. Other children of this couple also had birth recordings which give Hopeville in Grant County as their place of birth (see also WV archives site). But, at least one child, Emma, was recorded as having been born in Pendleton County: http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/va_view.aspx?Id=414626&Type=Birth Without further research,it is unclear how much time between 1891 and 1920 the family actually lived in Pendleton County - one of the many reasons that census data requires corroboration from other records before a broad conclusion about length of residence in a given place can be drawn. Information from Aaron Moyer's obit includes a list of his eight surviving children - my notes in brackets: Hobart [aka Henry] Moyers Obed [aka Felix] Moyers Mrs. Larry Valentine [Emma] Hoy Moyers Odis Moyers Mrs. Wilbur Graham [Lula] Mrs. William Rohrbaugh Mrs. Luther Sites [Flora] >From the obit, it would seem that Benjamin predeceased his father. Two other children died young, one was Bertha (see WV archives site and the GCHGS site) and another child who appears to have been born and died between 1900 and 1910 based on a comparison of census data regarding the number of children born vs those living. (Evidence of 11 children in total for this union). Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
