Elizabeth Janes' will, dated 21 January 1886 and probated in Fayette County, Ohio, names her five surviving children: William W., Catharine, Albert C., Thadius, and John M. Janes. The application for probate includes her husband George W. Janes.1 [Will of Elizabeth Janes," 21 January 1886 (proven 16 June 1888), Fayette County, OH, Will Book 2:563.] Children of Elizabeth3 Carr and George W. Janes, per her will and cemetery records, all probably born in Fayette County, Ohio: 64 i. James O.4 Janes, born ca. 17 February 1848, as he died 9 July 1870, aged 22 years, 4 months, 20 days, and is buried in the Old Jeffersonville Cemetery, Fayette County, Ohio, the son of G. W. and E. A. Janes.1 He probably was born and died in Fayette County. [Rankin, Cemeteries of Fayette County, OH, 225] ] 65 ii. Wallace William Janes, born May 1850 in Ohio per 1900 census. He married Mary Emma Thornton 16 January 1884 in Fayette County, Ohio.2 She was born September 1847 in Ohio per the 1900 census. Wallace William Janes, born 1850, died 1909. His wife Mary F. [sic]Janes was born in 1847 and died in 1930. They are buried in Fairview Cemetery, Jefferson Township, Fayette County, Ohio.3 66 iii. Catharine A. Janes, born August 1852 per the 1900 census when she was single and resided with her father and brother Wallace. She never married.4 67 iv. Albert C. Janes, born December 1854 per the 1900 census when he was single and resided with his father and brother Wallace. He never married.5 68 v. Frank C. Janes, born ca. October 1855, as he died 12 August 1856, aged about 10 months, and is buried in the Old Jeffersonville Cemetery, Fayette County, Ohio. son of G. W. and E. A. Janes.6 [Rankin, Cemeteries of Fayette County, OH, 225.] 69 vi. John M. Janes, born ca. 1857 in Ohio per census records, and died after the 1880 census. He does not appear in the Fayette County Marriage Index. 70 vii. Thadius E. Janes, born ca. 1860 in Ohio and after the 1860 census, and died after the 1880 census, per census records. He does not appear in the Fayette County Marriage Index. For anyone doing research in Fayette County, Ohio, the tombstones have been transcribed several times, starting at least 60 years ago. The early transcriptions are available through LDS. All of these should be checked since not all tombstones survived to be read in later transcriptions, or remained readable. Nedra
