The court minute book records the appointment on 2 April 1870 of Martin H. Harper as administer of the estate of Job A. Sites, the unnamed widow declining. Joshua Day was appointed on 28 August 1872 to administer the estate of Mary Ann Sites, deceased widow of Job A. Sites. On 12 October 1872 Johnson Sites was appointed guardian of Hannah C., Phebe J. and Isaiah Sites, over 14, and Susan, John A., Perry, Catharine and Eve E. Sites, infant children under 14, of Job A. Sites. [Pendleton Co. WV, Court Record B 1866-1872, page 147.No mention of Celia. Johnson Sites is again named as guardian of these same named "infant children of Job A. Sites, dec'd" when he sells land on the north end of Spruce Mountain on 24 Nov 1874. Again, Celia is NOT included in the children of Job. The deed references a petition dated May 1873. The deed references a tract "partitioned and conveyed to Job A. Sites of the lands of his Father Adam Sites." [Pend Co, WV, DB 21:11-12] On 1 August 1884 in Pendleton County, James P. Sites was appointed guardian of Celia Sites, aged 12, infant daughter of Mary A. Sites, deceased. And, as noted in a previous posting, her death record shows she was born 8 September 1871 her father as Jacob Lewis. Job A. Sites died prior to the appointment of his administrator on 2 April 1870. Note that the published transcription of his tombstone shows a death date of 24 July 1870. On this same date, 1 August 1884, James P. Sites was appointed guardian of Cora Lewis, aged 8, infant daughter of Hannah C. Lewis, deceased, and Jacob Lewis. [Pend County Court Record 1881-1886, page 238. The Pendleton County Court Record Books can be borrowed through the LDS Family History Centers and contain a wealth of information for Pendleton County families. The Chauncery Court Minutes are also available and I presume that is where these petitions would be found. They are not well indexed but worth the effort to read.
