Author: mallowslk19 Surnames: Mouse Miller Classification: deed Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.westvirginia.counties.pendleton/1791.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Update on Daniel Mouse's 156 acres granted to him 6 Apr 1769 mentioned in a previous post on this thread. 1) A deed for a sale from Daniel and Eve Mouse to Michael Miller was found in the Augusta Co. Deed Book 19; pp. 257-258. For five shillings, Daniel and Eve sold Michael Miller the full 156 acre patent on 17 May 1774. Per the recording, Daniel and Eve both signed with a mark. Pages 257-258 should be abstracted in Chalkley's on this page but notice it jumps from from pg. 255 to pg. 259. I've checked the 1999 printing of Chalkley's and it is not recorded there so this is not an omission solely from the internet. ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/va/augusta/court/3court53.txt 2) On this page in Chalkley's is a partial abstract of a recording in which a portion of the 156 acres patented to Daniel Mouse was sold pg. 217 (Mills should read Miller): ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/va/augusta/court/3court54.txt "Page 217.--On North Fork of South Branch, part of 156 acres patented to Daniel Mouse, 6th April, 1769. Delivered: Leonard Miller by order of George Mills, 1st April, 1794." Per the deed recording in the Augusta Co. Deed Book 21, Michael and Barbara Miller sold George Miller 80a of the 156 acres (patented to Daniel Mouse) for 50 pounds on 21 Nov 1775. Michael signed with a "M" and Barbara signed with a mark.
