There is a John DAVIS who can always be found just before/after the Revolution in his favorite place, the local pokey (Jail). He is either accused of sedition or treason or something else as "nice". I think he spent time in the local constabulary in several of the counties. I know that he had at least two daughters, one of which was Elizabeth DAVIS who married Martin Luther CARR. They attended the Lutheran Church near Petersburg in the present day Grant Co, WV. The story goes that his "bullet riddled clothing" was found where the wolves had pulled his body apart. I haven't heard if the local authorities spent much time to see if they could find the culprits or if they even cared since his politics were what probably got him killed.
