Koren - I was so happy to see your post on the Pendleton Co. list that I wanted to write and say thank you for the information. I would also be interested in knowing if you are aware of anyone researching the Jordan/Smith lines. I have been trying for several years to try to connect Jane JORDAN with a family in Pendleton Co.; possibly as a child of Andrew Jordan, Jr. who was later in Braxton and Webster counties. Briefly, what I know of her is that she was born 27 March 1820 in Pendleton Co., VA; married to John SMITH, Jr. 4 Dec. 1834 in Pendleton Co. He died about 1847. They had several children, but no names are listed in his will. I know there was a daughter: Tabitha (or Talitha) b. Aug 1837; m. Joseph HITT, 1855 in Lewis Co., WV; there may also have been a daughter, Sarah Jordan Smith, b. 1835; m. 1857 E. Simmons; and possibly another daughter, Ann E (O'Brian), b. 1836; m. 1864 to John White. Jane Jordan Smith then married William A. Buchanan, place and date unknown, but they are on the 1860 Rockbridge Co. VA census. In 1867 Jane married Nathan Schoonover in Gilmer Co., WV By 1880, the widow, Jane Schoonover is in Macon Co., IL with her widowed daughter, Tabitha Hitt.
