    3. Depending on the person speaking, and the one listening, I have heard people pronounce KIMBLE in such a way that someone could spell it Camel. I hail from Maryland, though I have been in Franklin, WV for the past 16 years. Most of the time I have to ask people how they spell names because how they are pronounced here, and the way I grew up hearing names is totally different. In example, many people here say Charl instead of saying all the letters in Charles. Thus Kimble is pronounced without a B, and the i sounds like an A. C and K are exchanged for each other often. In a good many older records, the persons involved may not have known the spelling of their name, or even how to read or write. You could have an Englishman writting down the names of passengers arriving in port. If a German said his name, but couldn't spell it, the Englishman would write it as it sounded to him, or vise versa. Until the latter 19th century, formal education was for the wealthy. The everyday person didn't go to school. You might have been taught a trade, but you may not have been taught to read or write. Now that I have totally confused everyone, including myself, I'll say Happy Ancestor Hunting.
