    3. I really hate to criticize, but forget about Walter Eye's book. It is full of terrible mistakes. As one who has worked on the Simmons line for over 25 years, it is simply awful. Recently what has always been considered the line based on the Kellog papers has been proven not to be right. I will look thru what I have, but I am not descended thru Leonard's line, but I don't know about the one you are talking about. Morton's History is also a mess on the Simmons line. Just how all the early ones are related is still not proven by any means. As it stands now, the Simmons are really a brick wall in Pendleton and not proven to be from any particular place previous to that. One of the problems is that in the early papers they often went by John George, John Nicholas, John Michael, and used the first or middle name depending on their mood, I guess. I do know I have my line from John of the will in the early 1830's and the land records appear to make him a son of Nicholas. I did think that someone out there has the Leonard Simmons Sr. line as I think I was shown it once when I was still struggling with mine. Just how he is related to the others is not proven. My advice on the Simmons family, start with the proven and go step by step from there and do not leap ahead unless you have a proofs. They are hard to come by. I had a lot of luck using proven siblings when I did not have any proof on my direct ancestor. I must have deleted the dates on Leonard that you think came from Greenbrier. Would you send me what you have on him as to dates, wife, and children's names and I will see what I can do. Jean
