Dear Pendleton researchers: I am the one who posted this to the board. I got this Happy99.exe "worm". It is not a virus it is a Trojan horse worm. I have spent three days clearing this "worm" out of my computer. I received it through the e-mail and like all of the warnings we have read, it does come "attached". It came to me from on an e-mail from someone I generally receive mail from, another sneaky mode of transportation. (the sender was unaware of it too) Typically, this "worm" is not corrected by your virus scan. It replicates in your files and destroys your "original" file. There are sites available to describe the methods of ridding this from your system. I used the virus scan and deleted the files that were corrupted. However this does NOT "clear" the problem. If this board does not let in "attachments" then you may be safe. However, we have all made contacts with fellow researchers and share off this board. I thought I was safe because I do NOT open attachments unless I know who they are from and I still became infected with this "worm". I notified everyone in my address book as a warning (after clearing my hard drive.) I apologize for sending this to this board and using "space" for this matter. However I felt obligated to notify each one of you about this very serious situation since I do post to this site.
