Hi everyone - I personally think that the Pendleton County area is simply one of the most beautiful places around and try to visit every time I ever get a chance which is not often, unfortunately. I can certainly remember visiting there as a child - and it had a certain smell (nice) and sound to it. I know, sounds strange, but it is true. I remember that on the way up to Germany Valley area, through the mountains, from Arlington, VA, there was a strip on the mountain highway that had a PYRAMID of stone that was a water fountain. We always stopped there. It was within the last 10 years I believe that on a visit there with my dad, the Pyramid was GONE - it had been taken down. I was so saddened by that becuase it was such a neat "little watering" hole. Anyone out there remember that Pyramid Watering Fountain? As a resident now of FL, there are times when I just long for those mountains, and that air, especially during our hot summers - Phew!!!! Palm Trees get boring after awhile - :) and when you live here, you can't do sun EVERYDAY. I also remember a trip to Seneca Rocks - oh, in the last 6 years, I couldn't believe all the SUV's from VA/Wash., D.C. area that were parked in the parking lot - I guess the area is becoming a "tourist" site???? Well, enough babbling here. Barbara
