Hi, I received my ancestor's Revolutionary War pension records and got a notice that they could not find the military records. I also have received several Civil War pension records. You have to fill out a form for each type of record requested. Did you fill out a form? You can order them from the National Archive via e-mail. Go to this web site, http://www.nara.gov/research/ordering/ordrfrms.html It takes about a week to get the forms, then it can take a couple of months to get notified if they found the records. I always sent a check after being notified and then got the papers about a week or two afterwards. You don't pay unless they find them. They are $10.00. You can put your credit card on the form, and if they find them, they will bill your credit card and mail you the documents, saving yourself a couple of weeks. Men who served and their widows were entitled to a pension from what I understand, but they had to apply and have proof of service. (My ancestor gave a written statement in court for his proof of service). Not everyone who served applied for pensions. I also think the pension act might not of went into effect until about 1830's, but don't quote me on that. I have been told that the military records might be found in the state archives, if the National doesn't have them. I think this is true for the State Militia. -----Original Message----- From: sonntag <sonntag@wcoil.com> To: WVPENDLE-L@rootsweb.com <WVPENDLE-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Friday, February 25, 2000 4:22 PM Subject: Rev.
