    2. Thanks for the information on Morton's other books. Where can the book by Harter be found? The errors we've seen are in our family line. He says "This family perhaps descended from Michael Cowger who located 900 acres on the Shenandoah river in 1753." There is a patent [Virginia Land Grants, http://image.vtls.com//collections/LO.html] for Apr 24, 1753 Patent No 32, 1752-56, p.70 Jacob Coggar 930 acres in Augusta Co on South side of Shanadoah River. No Michael. The Library of Virginia has been a great site for land grants for the counties prior to becoming part of WV. Is there a title for Tucker's book and when was it published? To quote from the Introduction of Pendleton County, WV Past and Present: "Our objective: to publish an accurate and factual account of the history of Pendleton County and its people." The 3 photos at the top of the Homes page are on the family land. George and Hannah built the middle home but it was enlarged later. Chalkleys 3 volumes on Scotch-Irish Settlement can also be found on the Rootsweb site. It isn't limited to that settlement but gives court records, etc. for Augusta Co., the forerunner of Pendleton.
