    1. Grave Registry & other sources
    2. Grave Registry written 1977 is supplemented by the one printed in 1980. 1980 has an index and gives more background on the people as well as the name of the person submitting the information. The books give the locations of the cemeteries identified so far. Three of them are located on our family farm. The graves are quite old but don't remember oldest listed. Among the Cowger family papers, there are handwritten notes from where Henry was the executor for Ferdinand Lair. I wondered why the family had kept them. Then we saw his grave registered, only one listed, also saw in the Pendleton Co. Past and President about land deeded for the church where he was a circuit rider, and somewhere else came across the Lair name mentioned in connection with Cowger. There is a lot about Hinkles in Pendleton Co. Past and Present. As I find unrelated names in documents that include Cowgers, I wonder if those families have documents that include Cowgers. Maybe if we share the names we are looking forward, our sources will broaden. We're looking for parents and siblings of George Cowger who married Hannah Hawes and lived on the Cowger homestead in 1779. Does anyone have proof that "George had 3 brothers and one sister" and that his father was "Michael Cowger who settled"...(Morton's. Our copy is 1910. Morton indicated that this was not proven).
