Your state has a National Archive that contains copies of all Census records for the US. If you call your local library and/or LDS Family History Center they might know where they are. You can purchase some of the indexes of the census records at the Archives also. Some libraries ( that have film viewers) allow you to order 2 rolls of film at time through the Public Library system, from the National Archives, to be viewed right there in the library. But in order to know which rolls you need to see, you need the index. Some libraries may have copies of the indexes so you can look up your rolls right there, then order them. The beauty of going to the National Archive is that they also have a special photocopy machine that makes a copy of the actual census page (off the film) for your records. Your state Archive is not necessarily in the state capital, so call around, good luck. If you are in CA I can tell you more.~Stacy
