Pat, There is a premarital agreement between Nancy, daughter of John Skidmore, and her husband Rev. John George Dahmer that concerns this property. Pendleton County, WV, Deed Book 5:266-267, Toothman's abstracts pp. 191-92. The adjoiners include her brother Elisha (sic, should be Elijah who also received land west of Franklin in the father's estate. This adjoining land, however, is probably Elijah's land grant of 1794.) Note John's will states the Nancy receives the balance of the Folk place although the abstract of the will does not specify that name in describing the land given the other children.Perhaps you can trace the deeds of the Dahmers and Elijah Skidmore to discover the exact location, although some of this land may still be in the Dahmer family. Johnny Dahmer lives in that general area. You might also check the Rockingham County Minutes to see if the Folk-Skidmore deed appears. It is possible that the deed was not completed when John died.
