Ray, The Davis line is not one of the major lines I'm researching. I was just trying to fill in a few blanks. If you contact Don ( dknarr@swbell.net) I bet he can help you. He is interested in anyone who is interested in Jesse. Happy searching, Una
Just compare the information I sent with what you already have and if you would, send me the information you have as well. On the way out the door for the day, will keep in touch. Cheryl
Hi Cheryl, Your information arrived safe and sound. I am in the process of comparing and adding to my data. Thank you very much. I lost all my e-mail when my computer crashed. I know you asked that I do something, but I can't recall what it was. Can You? If so, let me know. Una Kisamore -

>Does anyone know Legal talk and can translate this? >In Chalkey's Chronicles: >NOVEMBER 21, 1772. > (463) Michael Mallo vs. Valentine Maleer.--Abates by plaintiff's >eath ---does this mean he was killed or killed someone? No. It does prove, however, that Michael died prior to this court date. For some reason, Michael Mallo filed a suit against Valentine Maleer. When Michael Mallo died, there no longer was a plantiff and the suit was dropped. Although this is not proven, we might surmise that the matter did not affect the $$$ value of the estate. If you looked at earlier court dockets, there might be mention of the suit. >Also pg 122 "wife Mary was unable to administer her husband's estate" ---- >Chalkey's says "refused to administer" does anyone know the reason why? By Virginia law at that time, the widow was automatically appointed to administer an estate. If she chose not to for any reason, she had to officially inform the court that she refused. A few times I have seen this refusal in the county court minutes as the ONLY instance where the wife at time of death is named. Chalkley's is only an abstract. And, remember that his goal was to "Chronicle the Scotch-Irish." At times he read German names very poorly and at other times he totally ignored them. I would suggest that you obtain the microfilm of the original court minute book (through a LDS Family History Center). It may give move complete details. I received the following message today......let me know your thoughts.....Billie Jo Info I got from Annweiler, in 1997, in Germany states that Andreas Moser's father was Daniel Moser; Mother was Anna Marie(Puster)Moser; Anna Marie listed as sponsor of Michael Mallow was probably Andreas(Andrew) moser's sister. They came from Annweiler in early 1700's. Annweiler is about 20 miles from Alsace now. it may have been in Alsace at the time of their emigration. French/Germans have fought over boundaries in this region for centuries. The families Moser in nearby Elmstein, to ,the north of Annweiler, are connected to the mosers in Annweiler, according to the archives in Annweiler. Now I am convinced that Michael Mallow married Anna Margeretha Moser in Germany. Pls pass on to your Mallow friends Floyd Moser

To all who are interested, the Treasure Mountain Festival is held here in Pendleton County, primarily in Franklin, on the third weekend of September each year. This year it will be Sept 17, 18, and 19. The festival is a celebration of our heritage. It began in recognition of the Indian massacre at Fort Seybert, and the supposed iron kettle of "treasures" that the Indians took away from the fort, along with their hostages. The story goes that the Indians carrying the kettle fell behind the rest of the war party and their captives, and when they caught up with them, they no longer had the kettle in their possession. Many people have hunted for the iron kettle over the years, but it has never been found (thus the "Treasure Mountain"). Each year, a re-inactment of the massacre and fort burning is held on Saturday evening around 6 or 7 PM near the original site of the fort in Fort Seybert. I've been there a couple of times. It's pretty impressive if you haven't seen it before. A word of caution, though......park somewhere on 33 East heading out of Franklin toward Fort Seybert if you want to get there before it starts....the annual parade is at 4 PM, and traffic is so bad afterward that you can't get through to get there in time. The trip from Franklin normally takes 15-20 minutes. Kim Kline kskepi1@access.mountain.net m Kline kskepi1@access.mountain.net
