    2. Hello: After months of searching the internet, books and sending off for information I done quite well in my research on the Pennington Family in Pendleton County and Randolph County, WV. I still need some information on some individuals and I'm hoping someone on the list will be able to help fill in the missing pieces. I have information that I'd be happy to share with anyone who is interested in this family. Thanks Debbie Priscilla Pennington born________1772. Married Thomas Davis 1/19/1792. Does anyone have the month and date that Priscilla was born and death date. Also need Thomas Davis birth and death date. And I believe his father was James Davis. Barbara Pennington daughter of Richard Pennington, Sr. born _______1775. I need month and day on birth and death date. If she married and any children. John Pennington son of Richard Pennington, Sr born_______1777. I need month and day on birth and death date. If he married and any children. Palcy Pennington daughter of Richard Pennington, Sr married Robert Minnes(Minnis). I have no dates on either one of these two. Jesse Pennington son of Richard Pennington, Jr born Nov 22, 1797 married Jennie Camel. I have no marriage date on them. And I'm wondering if Jennie's last name could of been Campbell? I looked in alot of books and couldn't find the surname Camel. Any information on her would be appreciated. I also need the death date of Jesse. All I have is he died in 1865 in Fayette Co. John Pennington son of Richard Pennington, Jr. born Oct. 1, 1802. Married Winifred Thompson July 2, 1827. John died_______1885. And I have no birth or death date on Winifred. 2. Gary Simmons
    3. I am also looking for information re Leonard Simmons of Roane Co. WV. There has been a book written about Leonard and his family but where he came from is very sketchy. There is a record of the marriage of Leonard Simmons and Mary Vandel. The marriage was in Greenbriar County and this may be the basis for where Leonard came from, but I don't know. The book says that Leonard came from Cave WV which is near Franklin WV. I have been reading the rootsweb messages for several months, I have visited Franklin and Cave WV (a beautiful place), I have read the county histories of Pendleton and Roane Counties, and I have sent a request for information to rootsweb users. Unfortunately I have learned very little from anything other than the Simmons history book. This very surprising to me since the Simmons family were Pioneers. I will share any information that I have with you or anyone else. I am also interested in the Arnott and the Niday families from Roane County > -----Original Message----- > From: Darrell Warner [mailto:dgwarner@kingwoodcable.com] > Sent: Thursday, August 12, 1999 11:58 PM > To: WVPENDLE-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: Simmons of Pendleton County > > > Which Warners are you interested in. 3. My name is Leslie Ray. I have been researching my family for some time now. Some of the surnames I've been researching are: FORD, THOMPSON, EDGELL, MOORIS, APRIORSON, SIMMONS, VANDALE, HARVEY, ROBINSON, HILL, WARNER, ISENHART, WHITE, MATTHEWS, DAUGHERTY, MCMANAMA, BONE, RICHARDSON, GREATHOUSE, WILLIAMS. The surnames I am researching for West Virginia are:EDGELL, SIMMONS, HILL, WARNER, MATTHEWS, DAUGHERTY, RICHARDSON, GREATHOUSE, and WILLIAMS. In Pendleton County, I am solely researching my gggg grandfather Leonard Simmons, who married Mary Elizabeth Vandal. He was supposedly born in Pendleton County January 1, 1806. It has been said that his ancestor records were destroyed in a court house fire, but there is also some information in books and other family bibles. I am looking for anyone who can help me with his information. It has been said that he should be a direct descendant of Leonhart Simon who came to Virginia in 1753 along with Nickolas Simon. I hope this enough information for you. Thank you, Leslie Ray Attachment Converted: "C:\INTERNET\EUDORA\STUFF\Infoonme"

    3. Does anyone have anything on the early ones-Pickles and then Bickles in 1810 census? Like a list of Jacob's children? Or Henry's children? There appear to be two Christian Pickles, one of them Jacobs? I am thinking of trying the process of elimination to get a handle on Henry. Does anyone know how the land in Randolph was sold in 1805, which I have a note was surveyed for Henry, did not include Catherine Snider? Confusion, confusion. >From what part of Penna is it thought the Pickles came from? Maybe there is a marriage record there for John Snider and Catherine Pickle. I have yet to find one. 3. ______________________________ Same for Puffenbarger. In fact I have seen it spelled as Buffenbarger, Poffenberger, Poffenbarger, Poffingberger, Poffingbarger, etc. etc etc. The Pickle-Bickle line is also connected to the Puffenbargers. I think most of the families in Pendleton Co., VA (now WV) came from Berks Co., PA in the 1790s. 3. Does anyone know if the Pickle family changed their name to Bickle? I have been told that, but I have no proof of it. Also I have a note that Henry Pickle had a 120 acre survey and I presume then ownership of land in Randolph Co on Shaver's Mountain. It was sold by several Pickles, but Catherine was not one of them in 1805 and Henry apparently died in 1803. Does anyone know if Henry sold this to Jacob Pickle and then his children sold it? I also found a reference of a Christian Pickle giving a Power of Attorney and a man selling land he owned in Harrison Co, Christian in one place is said to be in Knox Co. Ohio and 2 years later said to be of Pendleton Co. Since Henry in his will said only Catherine Snider, widow of John, was around to take care of him, did his other children move west? Or was she his only child? Any help at all would be appreciated. Jean
