    3. Carolyn, I enjoyed your note about Pendleton. I think we native West Virginians are especially blessed to have a place to go back home. My mother's paternal grandfather was born in Pendleton, but left there as a young man. After the Civil War, he was in Gilmer Co., and I was born in Calhoun Co. I came to Charleston when I graduated high school and I'm still here. I didn't even know about the Pendleton Co. connection until I started my research; my mother always said the family came from Augusta Co., VA. I've only been to Pendleton a few times and to Highland Co. once but it is beautiful country and the people I met were very friendly. 3. Hi Group, Could someone please post the information for ordering the NEW Rick Toothman deed records and will book? I have checked Heritage Books site and the only one listed is the "Deedbook Records 1788-1813", published 1995. I thought there was a newer one out for deeds, wills, ect. from 1813 to ??? Thanks! http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~firebird/Coil.htm pamrooney@prodigy.net

    2. Don't know why the book doesn't appear on their website (www.heritagebooks.com), but I ordered it from them so know it is available. Their phone number is 1-800-398-7709. Complete title of the book is "Pendleton County (West) Virginia Probate Records: Wills, 1788-1866; Inventories, Sale Bills, Settlements, 1788-1846" by Rick Toothman. ISBN 0-7884-1226-4. It has an excellent index, and I have found it to be well worth the cost. I paid $27.00 but don't know if that was the pre-publication price. Hope this helps. Judy Corrin

    2. I received this message from someone who just happened upon my name. Can anyone help her. If so, you can respond to her at GDRJCPA@aol.com or through the Pendleton County Mailing list. Many thanks, Una Message: Hello, I am trying to find out any information on the name Kisamore. I was married to a Kisamore when I was young and have been divorced for 22 years and my son ask me where the name and people were from so I only could tell him that his Grandfather was from Pendleton Co. his name was Frank Kisamore and he married a lady named Bethel Turner from Onego. Can or do you have any history on the Kisamore name? I guess that it is German. I live in Canaan Valley and in Charleston and can go look up information but I found your e-mail so I will start with you. Thanks Estelle Rice

    3. Neil, I read the response to your question from Dan.......in Morgantown, the West Virginia Collection (lots of books, etc. about the state's history) is housed at the old law school building, Colson Hall, at WVU. If they don't have the newspapers on microfilm or microfiche, you may try the main library at WVU......Wise Library. When I was a student there, they had microfilms of all newspapers in the state in the main library, but may have moved them to Colson when the WV Collection was established. For phone numbers, try the WVU website............http://www.wvu.edu Kim -----Original Message----- From: sprtpr <sprtpr@neo.rr.com> To: WVPENDLE-L@rootsweb.com <WVPENDLE-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Thursday, October 28, 1999 9:39 AM Subject: Old Newspaper Articles >Hi, > >Can anyone from the group tell me where I might find copies of old >newspaper articles from 1904-1911. 1. Hello
    2. Dave Boggs
    3. Hello, I'm happy to be part of your mailing list. I am originally from St. Marys in Pleasants County, went to West Virginia University and lived in Morgantown for about 23 years. Now we are in Indiana because of my husband's job at GE. I have been working hard to find anything on my gggrandfather, John Ruckman, Sr. He was supposedly born about 1832 in Rockingham County, VA. He eventually married Margaret Sarah Callahan (or Callihan) and they settled in the village of Racoon Run in Harrison County, near Clarksburg, WV. Margaret was born about 1836. When John was around 22 years old, he is listed in the 1850 Census of Barbour County as living with a family named Steaurt (perhaps spelled Stewart now?). At that time the Steaurt family consisted of John Steuart (age 38), Alcy Ann (29), Felix (14), Hugh (12), Margaret (7), Mary (80), John Ruckman (22), and Sarah Ann Steuart (11). I sure hope someone might have a clue about all this. I seem to have run into a wall on this. The Ruckman homeplace where John and Margaret lived was right on the Harrison/Barbour County line. I do not have any information on Margaret Callahan either. Maybe I can find some information on her also. Look forward to hearing from someone. Becky (Ruckman) Boggs
