That is correct. These are the children of Jacob C. Ketterman and Mary Ann Arbogast, daughter of John and Hannah (Davis) Arbogast. Jacob served in Captain Jethro Nevill's Company of the Virginia Militia. But Mary Margaret Ketterman is not their daughter. That was the question if the first place. She is the daughter of a different Jacob Ketterman who married Sarah Mallow, in Grant County, as stated below... Mary Margaret is not in my line, but is incorrectly listed so. This causes confusion, but is easily verified with the proper spouse and county sorted out. Lena Leona Ketterman and her sister Bertha both married Colaws in my line, thus the connection. I am still trying to find parent information on 2 Huffmans: Mary Huffman who married Frederick Valentine Colaw (1750). Christian Huffman (1755) who married Catherine Colaw (1763). Also any additional parent children info one link either direction. Any information regarding Frederick Valentine Kohler or Valentine Kohler (or Colaw). Thanks. John Colaw
No, it is not. That is an incorrect listing by my sources. Mary Margaret is the child of the Grant Co., W. VA Jacob Ketterman who married Sarah Mallow, daughter of Henry Mallow. Married May 15, 1823 in Pendleton county, VA. The Jacob C. Ketterman you speak of had 11 children: Salem Hannah Leah Rebecca Nicholas Harper Joseph Sarah Sabina Miles John Esau John Colaw (scarecrow) Rosemary Teghtmeyer wrote: > Hi everyone. Koren Fae, Thank you. You've answered a number of questions for me including military service for George and Jacob Kennison Hill. You mentioned that you had a number of resources and would check to see if you had further information on this family. Have you had a chance to do that? George W. Hill was born 6 Sep 1823 in Hardy Co. He married Emily Caroline Shreve on 8 Apr 1847 in Pendleton Co. Their children were Jacob, George, Mary, Isaac, Susan, Margaret, Emily, Miles and Samuel. I suspect they had another son between Jacob and George, possibly Frederick. George Sr. later married Martha Shreve and they had David Scott, William and James R. Hill. They probably moved to Grant County. I know many of those who immigrated to Pendleton County were German. Usually, when there is a mass immigration movement they come from the same area. I suspect George Hill and/or his parents were from Germany. Has anyone done any research as to what area the people who settled there might be from? You've been very helpful and I really appreciate it. Diane Hill Zimmerman Koren Fae Rawlings wrote: > Dear Diane, > > Upper Tract is a town in Pendleton County. This might help in locating the G. W. Eagle house. The George W. Eagle estate sold the house in the late 1880's to Charles H. Judy. Mr. and Mrs. John A. Judy lived there many years. In 1966 Mrs. Martha Stump purchased the place from the John A. Judy estate. In 1979 the property was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Lyons of Washington, D.C. The Dice that I am interested in is Phoebe Dice b. 1794 married to Elias Harper and the daughter of George and Mary A. Dice. These three are my only Dices at this time. Elias Harper and Phoebe Dice had a daughter named Mary Ann who married Enoch Bland. This is a connection that I have just started exploring so I don't have much information on them. Hello, Sorry about the duplicate post, but I forgot to change the subject line the first time and I was wanted everyone researching these families to read. Does anyone have any information on Samuel Lambert and his wife Mary E. (Helmick). I am desperate! They were listed in the 1880 census as being WM(38) farmer, and WF(32) wife. Their children were James (16), Louisa (13), Arrisa (11), Effa (8), Kennison (6), Isabelle (4) and Viola (2). Also listed was Jane Helmick (widow), age 66, MIL. Does anyone have any info on this family. Who was Jane Helmick's husband or who were Samuel Lambert's parents?? I am interested in finding out more about the children of this family also. Thanks for your help! Jennifer

This is merely a suggestion as I have not researched this family. IF Daniel died without children as heirs, then his brothers and sisters would be his heirs and listed as such in a deed. Just a thought and possibility for resolving the conflict. OR, it is very likely that there was a George in both generations. The 1810 census may help with some approximate ages. Hello. I have just joined the list. My name is John O. Colaw III, and I am researching the Colaw lineage. I am also trying to sort out conflicting information near the top of my tree. I hope that someone can help me out. Accepting that my name has been Kohler, Coller and Colaw here is what I have. We are in agreement as far back as George Colaw (1785), who married Elizabeth Wimer (1791), and had many children: Henry E, Cyrus, William Benjamin, etc. I come down through William Benjamin Colaw. Now this is hard to follow... Morton lists George and Daniel as sons of Frederick Valentine Colaw (1950). Also listed is Catherine Colaw (1763?) who married Christian Huffman (1755) and is shown as daughter of Frederick Valentine Colaw who married a Mary Huffman. Yet my research shows Daniel as son of Valentine, and father of George (1785) and Catharine (1763) and a host of other children. Here is a deed that helps supports this: Pendleton County, West Virginia records: Deed Book 6, p. 374, made 27 April 1816, proved 3 December 1816, Heirs of DANIEL COLLER, decd. to Henry Hartman and John Hotem of Pendleton County, $100.00, 155 acres, granted Henry Judy, by him to John Smith and from Smith to Valentine Coller, from Valentine to Daniel Coller; Jacob Coller, George Coller and Elizabeth, Christian Huffman and Catharine, Elizabeth Weyman, Samuel Mullenax and Charity, all of Pendelton County; Edward Galor and Barbara of Rockbridge County and Abraham Coller and Easter of Ohio. Also mention made of a Terah Colaw (Kohler), from the Palatinate, who had a son Valentine, who had a son Daniel, etc. I am looking for info on Terah Colaw (Kohler) Valentine Colaw (coller) (kohler) Daniel Colaw (coller) Frederick Valentine Colaw Thanks for your patience and support. I have a few historical pictures of the Colaw place at crabbottom VA, now known as Blue Grass, W VA, owned by Paul and Glenna Colaw. Also some others. http://www.colaw.net/gallery/ Thanks so much. john
