The grave markers of Pendleton County have been published by the Pendleton County Historical Society. Volume 2 contains the index to Volume 1. The address to order is listed below along with other published sources for Pendleton County information. Nedra Oren F. Hi Listers... Does anyone have information regarding the Seneca Indians, specifically the geneology of Chief Cornplanter? My ggg-grandmother Catherine Dotson, was a granddaughter of his and I am having trouble tracing her to him as her last name was changed when her family left the Indian Reservation. If anyone has information with regard to this subject, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance, Michelle
Been trying to get connected to Pendleton Website but unable to get connected so is there anybody out there has the address and cost for the Pendleton Grave registry vol. # 1 AND 2 Bob Stott
Is there any reason that I'm getting a refused connection notice when i go to your site and any county sites in West Virginia Bob Stott
Hi all! I just received my grave register books from Pendleton. I had to write this note and let anyone who is considering purchasing them...do it. There is so much info in here. You couldn't imagine how many of my relatives I can piece together now. The pictures that have been included are great. I can't wait to come to Pendleton. And, lastly, for those who put this together, you guys are amazing. My county has nothing like this. It is very much worth the money! Kim Fairbanks kfairbnks@aol.com
Judy, Peco may just be an abbreviation for Pendleton Co. I never thought of that. It was on a tombstone in Illinois as a reference to where the husband died. He died in 1827 and according to the 1830 Pendleton Co. census, the family was living in Franklin. You mentioned Rick Toothman's book on Pendleton Co probate records. Do you have the name of the book and where I might find it? Thanks for all your help. Betty
Koren, I am researching John CUNNINGHAM bd app. 1868-1878 born in Hardy Co., WV. and died in Sangamon Co., IL in 1836. Daughter Hannah bd 1797 in Pendleton Co., WV. and died in Sangamon Co., IL in 1872. John states in his will: wife Catharine, daughter Mary Ellen and son Magor Andrew Dyer and son William P. to be their guardian. William P. died in 1838 and Nathaniel P. Cunningham becomes the administrator. Funeral expenses is charged to John's estate for a M. A. D. Cunningham (Magor Andrew Dyer ?). At the time of John's death he had business(?) in both Pendleton Co., WV and Sangamon Co., IL. I found a marriage record ("Marriages of Pendleton Co., VA 1788-1853" compiled by Mary Harter) for a John CUNNINGHAM and Catharine SHURLEY 16 May 1833. Bond 14 May 1833 John CUNNINGHAM, Z. DYER, consent of father and mother John and Mary Ann SHIRLEY. This might have been a second marriage for my John. Do any of these names sound familiar to anyone? Thanks for any help. Betty
Could Peco be someone's abbreviation for Pendleton County? I personally use lots of "shorthand" when taking notes. Just a thought. By the way, there are numerous references to Samuel B. Hall in Rick Toothman's book on Pendleton County probate records. Judy Corrin
