It is listed as a "Vanishing Landmark". Graveyard History of Morgan County (VA) WV lists Riser Cemetery in the Timber Ridge District, 1/4 mile from old Henry Dawson Mill; Salem Church Cemetery - Timber Ridge on W.VA/VA line; (Old) Union Chapel - on Timber Ridge just north of Salem Church (previously listed); Stotler Family Plot - on Timber Ridge near Salem (previously listed). Timber Ridge appears to be located in the area between Morgan County and Frederick County VA according to the map in the Graveyard Book. The Oakland Community is located on the Middle Fork of Sleepy Creek in the Timber Ridge District, south of Berkeley Springs. The Morgan United Methodist Church is the oldest continuous rural congregation in Morgan County. The first church dates back to 1824 and ws known as Rizer's Chapel (see listing above). The cemetery contains graves of the earliest settlers and dates back to 1844. .....Morton Grove was about 1 mile away. The community had Oakland and Morton Grove Schools were two of the six schools located in the Timber Ridge District. The other four were Greenwood, Pine Grove, Salem and Birch Grove. The original Union Chapel was built......on Timber Ridge directly across the road from Salem Methodist Episcopal Church. .....the present Union Chapel stands, on Highway Route 522, ten miles south of Berkeley Springs. The church building from Timber Ridge was moved to these grounds. Hopefully some of this information will help you to locate Timber Ridge on the map.
