A member of the Allegany Co. MD list sent me a picture to ID...she's in Arkansas now, but grew up in the upper Potomac area. It shows members of her family standing around a castle-like turret with trees around and hilly terrain. When she described it to me, I immediately thought of the Castle in Berkeley Springs, though in this picture there's no house structure attached. Is my memory correct? Is the gatehouse across the road from the Castle done in turret style? I can send an attached copy of the picture for a positive ID to anyone who thinks they can help! My grandparents lived in Berkeley Springs from around 1950 until their deaths in the 70s, but I can only remember going up the road to the Castle a few times, and this was maybe 30 years ago or more.
