    1. [WVMORGAN] Obituary for Sarah Higgins Clark & Hoyle/Hoile
    2. The published Morgan County Historical Society Marriage Records )1820 - 1865) index for the marriage record for Samuel Hoyle says page 2 (misprint), but actually has the record on page 20 (4 August 1840). Henry Columbus Hoile (or Hoyle) married Isabelle C. Dawson, 16 October 1882, Morgan County. Isabelle is the daughter of Cyrus and Amelia Ann (Pritchard) Dawson, married 21 March 1837, Morgan County. I am showing five sons, Cyrus, Henry, Charles, George, and Sheridan. I do not have John as a son. Can anyone verify this? Actually, the 1850 Morgan Census shows two other families related to Samuel Hoile (Hoyle). One is Andrew "Hile" (35) with wife Elizabeth (Eaton), married 14 March 1842, Morgan County. It looks like Andrew's first wife was Elizabeth Dawson, married 19 December 1837, Morgan County. This Andrew Hoile had a son Andrew, who married Mary Elizabeth McBee 22 July 1888, Morgan County. Then, also in 1850, is Lanah Hile (73), with four younger adults (children?), and living next to Andrew "Hile." The adults are Washington (36), Rachael (25), Mary (24), and Joseph (23) "Hile." Lanah would be the widow of George Hoile, born 1770 to 1775 and shown in the 1820, 1830 and 1840 Morgan Census. This is based on a deed written 29 May 1857 (DB 7, P 212) wherein G. Washington and Rachel Hoile sold their 1/7 share of land formerly owned by George Hoile, deceased, as well as the share of their brother Joseph Hoile to Samuel Davison.
