I am hunting the family of THOMAS FARRELL and his wife JUDAH both born in Ireland . Came to Morgan Co. around 1841..The children were Mary Elizabeth , my g.grandmother 1835-1919 Katherine 1838-1910, James 1841, Thomas 1842 Ann 1845, Ellen 1846 Bridget 1849 and, Sarah 1851I would love to have any information about these children except Mary Elizabeth and Katherine both of whom I have a lot of information on. JAMES FARRELL married HENRIETTA MICHAEL on March 14, 1867 in Morgan Co but I cannot find them in Morgan Co. after that. As I said any help on any of these children would be greatley appreciated. Hi, Can anyone tell me about Laura. Exactly who was she , was he maiden name McAdams or did she marry a McAdams. Thanks for anything you can tell me about her, Virginia
The household of Frank Bruer Dyche and Laura Virginia Ambrose McAdams Dyche, Berkeley Springs, WV: In 1920 a grandson, Adrian Dyche, age 12 is listed in the household. In 1910 this same child is listed as a son. Laura said she had 4 children with all 4 living. She had 2 daughters by her first marriage and 2 children with Frank. In the 1930 census grandson Adriene W. Dyche age 23 and his wife Ernestine V. Dyche age 23 are living in the household of Frank & Laura. Adriene & Ernestine have been married approximately 3 years. In the Graveyard History of Morgan County, WV Adrian is listed in the Greenway Cemetery 9 Jan 1907-15 Aug 1930. Ernestine is listed in the same cemetery 16 Mar 1907 with no death date. They are buried with Frank & Laura. I have read Frank & Laura's obits and Frank's step-children are given as his children. There is no mention of Adrian. Who is Adrian??????? Edie Eader

Ginger - I am researching Allemong, Merchant and related families and would be very happy to share information. I am descended from Samuel Merchant (c 1799 - c 1873), married (1) Nancy Yost, (2) Mary Jane Allemong, through the Nancy Yost line. Samuel's son by Nancy Yost, John Merchant, married Ellen Catharine Allemong. I am trying to establish the exact relationship of these two Allemong women within the Allemong clan (and consequently to the other Morgan Co Allemongs that descend from Lewis), and also trying to chart out the Merchants, who came from the Mill Creek area of Berkeley County to what was to become Morgan County around 1808. Related families and/or near neighbors include Dawson, Stotler, Hovermale, Speelman, Henry, Aulabaugh, Michael, Gant, Grove, Beagant/Bageant. It is listed as a "Vanishing Landmark". Graveyard History of Morgan County (VA) WV lists Riser Cemetery in the Timber Ridge District, 1/4 mile from old Henry Dawson Mill; Salem Church Cemetery - Timber Ridge on W.VA/VA line; (Old) Union Chapel - on Timber Ridge just north of Salem Church (previously listed); Stotler Family Plot - on Timber Ridge near Salem (previously listed). Timber Ridge appears to be located in the area between Morgan County and Frederick County VA according to the map in the Graveyard Book. The Oakland Community is located on the Middle Fork of Sleepy Creek in the Timber Ridge District, south of Berkeley Springs. The Morgan United Methodist Church is the oldest continuous rural congregation in Morgan County. The first church dates back to 1824 and ws known as Rizer's Chapel (see listing above). The cemetery contains graves of the earliest settlers and dates back to 1844. .....Morton Grove was about 1 mile away. The community had Oakland and Morton Grove Schools were two of the six schools located in the Timber Ridge District. The other four were Greenwood, Pine Grove, Salem and Birch Grove. The original Union Chapel was built......on Timber Ridge directly across the road from Salem Methodist Episcopal Church. .....the present Union Chapel stands, on Highway Route 522, ten miles south of Berkeley Springs. The church building from Timber Ridge was moved to these grounds. Hopefully some of this information will help you to locate Timber Ridge on the map.

Ginger, I must have missed the obit on Nancy - can you refresh my weak mind? You can do so off list if you wish - nald55@earthlink.net - so others don't have to get a repeat in their mailboxes! Thanks, Nancy
Harry (and Joy & others interested), As for "Gum" Crouse, I obtained this information from a booklet that was put together for the family in 1971. At that time, Alvernon Corbin Hovermale (the daughter of [as best as I can tell] Rachel Anne Elizabeth HENRY was married Charles Gilbert Johnston CORBIN) along with the help of HER daughter Delores Hovermale Householder made these booklets available. (My paternal grandmother was the youngest child of Page HENRY and his 2nd wife, Lillian Frances ALLEMONG) The information for the booklet was on the "HENRY family - Family Records from the early 1800s. Concerns the descendants of John Page Henry." The first page of the booklet states that the history was compiled from information by the members of each family. No sources are listed. The best "source" that I have at this time is the obit for Nancy that I previously posted. Should I come across further information, I will be sure to post FYI. Ginger

We are so pleased that, looking for info on the cemetery where our family members are buried, we found you. We are three sisters gathered from Florida, Georgia, and Virginia. Our mother grew up in Berkeley Springs, and we visited on family vacations as we were growing up. We'd like to keep in touch. If you know how to exchange direct info (email or phone numbers), please advise us. You have the number where we'll be the next couple days. In any case, we will let you know what we find once we've been to the cemetery. Margaret, Louise, and Anna Marie
