He was one of 10 children o Wm, Sr. who came from Scotland to the vicinity of where afterward arose the city of Washington. He and several of his brothers served in the American Revolution. After the war, he left his home on the Rapidian, and journied to Albemarle Co, Va, then to Monroe Co. His children: Johnson Ballard, moved to Ky Jeremiah Ballard, born 1777, died 1867; married Jaley Thompson Lucy Ballard married John Stodghill, John Goodall Millie Ballard married Jacob Mann in 1804 William Ballard, III, born 1784, died 1880, married Mollie Snow Nancy Ballard married Wm Farrell Mollie married Mathias Kessinger, 1803 Willis ballard born 1791, died 1880, married Isabel Thompson, 1813 James Ballard married Jennie Keaton, 1804 Hope this helps Phyllis Cady
