Doris, Welcome to the list! I too am trying to connect an Egnor in Monroe County to someone, anyone--no one will claim him! Been a brick wall for decades! The good news for you is that we've already connected your Andrew. He's probably a cousin of some sort to mine (Archibald Egnor), hopefully someday we'll know for sure. Your Andrew was born 1826 in Rockbridge County, VA and was really an AGNER, not EGNOR. Yeah, the name got changed. MANY times (see my signature below for just a few of the variants we've found them under) Your Andrew #36 at the following site: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Meadows/7360/agner.txt On this site you'll find information on Andrew's father (John III), grandfather (John Jr.), and greatgrandfather (John Sr.), but no information on Andrew himself. For that -- email MaryLou, also a descendent of Andrew and Susan. Her address is: [email protected] I think she may have recently found some information on Susan as well. Everyone is still trying to prove that John Agner Sr. in Rockbridge is a son of Ludwig Aegender of Washington County, MD (s/o Johannes Aegender who came from the area of Zweisimmen, Boltigen and St. Stephen, Switzerland, canton of Bern to the Lehigh County, PA area on Sept 21, 1731 on the Britannia before moving on with some of his family to Rowan County, NC mdi to late 1750s). However, I recently got two deeds from Washington County, MD. One states John Eagner [sic] as being s/o Ludwig & Christine [Mahn] Aegender and the other is a sale of John's property (originally Ludwig's, who died intestate in late 1790/very early 1791) in Mar 1805, right before John shows up in Rockbridge. So that's a bit more evidence to back it up. If you'd like more information on Johannes or Ludwig I have some, just email me. Well good searching! If there's anything else you think I might be able to do, let me know. ---Celia ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Celia Hartmann ([email protected] or [email protected]) Searching for the surname Egnor including variants (but not limited to) Agner/Agnor, Aigner/Aignor, Aegender, Agener, Ageder, Aginder, Eigoner, Eigander, Eigender, Eigner/Eignor, Eggner/Egner, Igender, Iginor. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, July 20, 1999 1:20 PM Subject: [WVMONROE-L] Egnor/Harris/Welch > Hi: > > I'm new to the list and am looking for info on Andrew Egnor who m Susan > Harris in 1855 in Monroe Co.
