Several days ago I read a message that someone was going to be in Monroe Co. and was wondering about the genealogical society's hours. If you are unable to be in Monroe Co. when the genealogical society is open, I suggest you try the Alleghany Co. Society. They are open 3 days a week and have a tremendous amount of Va and WV genealogical material, including the entire library of Nora Martin. For those who are not familiar with her, she did a lot of genealogy, collected all the census films and history and family books of VA and WV counties, plus had a number of family histories. She also compiled some census records which were printed and are now in the library. In addition, they have hundreds of other records. Well worth a visit.
