Hello everyone, My name is Mary Alice Brown and I've been doing genealogy for 10 years, since I took a course through the community education class here in College Station, TX. Since then, I've been researching my line and my husband's line at the same time!!! I have recently been working on the surname of GARTIN/GARTEN's. My husband's line begins with his greatgrandmother, Eliza Milinda GARTIN, b. 22 Jul 1874 MO. Her father was Parkinson GARTIN, b. in Decatur Co, IN. His father was Allen GARTIN, b. Nov 1822/1823 in Monroe County. I have found out who Allen's parents/siblings were by looking at other websites and homepages. But as yet, I haven't found exact proof of Parkinson-Allen-or Parkinson's mother/siblings. Family lore suggests that Allen was 1st cousin to Davy Crockett, but you know how that goes!!!
