Hi Everyone Anna Sweeney was born 1779/1780 in Pittsylvania County, Va, Va. According to Marriage Records of James Wiley and Anna Swinney dated 22 May 1799, James stated that his father was W. W. (Willam Wiley) and Anna stated that her father was J.S. (James Swinney). Robert and Sarah were the parents of William Wiley. According to page 419 of Morton's History of Monroe County, there is a strong indication that Robert and Sarah Wiley came from County Armaugh, Ireland. James Swinney full name was James Semore Swinney (1750/1760-28 Aug 1836) and he was married twice: 1) in eastern Virginia to _______Hammock and 2nd in what is now West Virginia (probably Kanawha County) to Susanna Lilly. James and his first wife had eight children, all of whom were born in Pittsylvania County, VA. They had eight childen Mary (18 Feb 1774-16 Mar 1862) married Wheeler Pennington Anna (1779/1789-18 Oct 1863) married 22 May 1799 James Wiley Delaney (18 Mar 1781-28 Apr 1853) married 27 Oct 1806 Priscilla S. Callaway Rachel Swinney (3 Sep 1783-29 Oct 1858) married 1st 31 July 1823 Richard Toler married 2nd 29 Oct 1846 Joseph Gore Delilah (1784-1851) married 22 Mar 1808 John Neely Sr. William (7 Oct 1785-18 Nov 1872) married 1st 21 Jan 1809 Margaret Hutchison married 2nd Nancy Miller Elizabeth (Feb 1788-6 Jan 1889) married 1 Aug 1812 James Dunn Susanna (1 Nov 1790-28 Jun 1846) married 22 Mar 1808 Henry Gore Jr. James Semore's first wife died shortly after Susanna's birth in Pitsylvania county, Virginia. James and his eight children left there and came to what is now West Virginia were he married 2nd on 9 May 1793 to Susanna Lilly by whom he had three additional children as follows: James (22 Sep 1793 - 4 Aug 1846) married 9 Apr 1818 Jan Garten Martin Newton (19 Mar 1797-1874) married 1st Nancy Meador married 2nd 11 Aug 1864 Sarah B., widow of Mr. Lewis Vincent (1800-1886) married 2nd Elizabeth Lilly. I have never been able to determine if Susanna"s maiden name was Lilly or if she was previously married to a Lilly. She was between 33 and 43 years of age when she and James were married, thus suggesting the possiblity that she was probably married first to a Lilly. I have not found a male Lilly married to a Susanna any time prior 1793. >
