I, too, have been doing some research on the Monroe Co. Vances. My gggaunt, Rebecca Jane Bostick b. 1838 d. 1932 at age 94 was married to Caperton Vance at the age of 18 in 1857. He fought for the Confederacy, then with the Union Army and was killed in the Battle of Cedar Creek. They lived at Glace (sometimes called Laurel Creek). She was called "Becky", and Caperton was 26 when they married, son of William and Jane Spradlin Vance who were married in Monroe Co. in 1827. Caperton's sister, Sally A. m. H. C. Holesapple in 1857. I have 5 single spaced sheets on their descendants in My Family Tree, which is not on the web yet. I had written my tree in book form over the last 40 years, and since I retired, have been entering it into the computer as a Family Tree Maker project, as well as researching other lines through the internet. My e-mail address is damiller@inetone.net, and I would prefer to communicate direct. Thanks. Dorothy Miller
