Charles FRIEND Sr. (born @ 1730) died by 1816 in Monroe Co., (W) Va. In 1816 his estate was sold in two auctions, one was the estate in town (tavern), and the other was the estate "at the plantation" on Turkey Creek. Administration was by William GRAHAM. It's believed a daughter of Charles FRIEND had married a James GRAHAM, but no further info. has been found. Was the Admin. a grandson? The proceeds of the estate sales were invested in land near Peter's Mtn., and the "heirs" are taxed on that land till 1831, when apparently the widow died. (she was a much younger second wife.) What happened to the land then? I have not found any sort of probate record disposing of that 261 acres. Who were the "heirs" ? Does anyone have access to local records that might help me tie up loose ends?
