Hi, I am looking for the decendants or information about Horace and James D. Arnott. They are both children of Jesse R. Arnott and Caroline Baker Arnott. Horace and James lived in the Springfield Dist. at the time Jesse died in 1902. I was wondering if anyone has the census that is indexed of 1900, 1910 or 1920 that they might locate both of them. I have had a difficult time. Adeath record might also help me. Thanks so much. Jason Arnott

Mine is from a Samuel Lewis b. abt. 1740 d. 8/16/1811 Monroe County, WV that had at least the following brothers... Wilson Abner my Samuel of Augusta/Greenbrier/Monroe had at least the following children: John Zebulon Joshua Anna Mary Samuel Abner I have found two distinct Samuel Lewis's in Augusta/Greenbrier County prior to 1800; mine and Colonel Samuel Lewis; son of General Andrew Lewis; early Greenbrier tax lists identify them as two separate individuals and the census has two Samuel Lewis living in Greenbrier County in the 1790 Census... I have been unable to determine who the parents of my Samuel Lewis were or where he was born... he had land patents next to General Andrew & Colonel Samuel Lewis; maybe a coincidence? I would love to see what any one may have on the Augusta/Greenbrier/Monroe County Lewis's... I have all the descendants of my Samuel Lewis's info if interested... Best Regards, Patrick

[I hope I'm not breaking any rules by cross-posting this to three lists, but it may reach a larger audience and save some time. (I'll take flames off-line) :-)] I am researching descendants of James Jones/Mary (Molly) Leach, of Monroe Co., VA (now-WV). James (1760-3/16/1849) and Molly (abt. 1761-12/21/1852) had 12 children that I can account for. I have recently received and transcribed copies of both of their wills and will make them available upon request. Their children were: 1. William Jones (1782-1855) died in Shelby Co, IN; m. Martha Hawkins 1804 (3 children: Matthew, Mary and Jane); m. Susannah Barger abt. 1816 (3 children Samuel, Rebecca and James) 2. Eli Jones (1783-1850) d. in Shelby Co., IN; m. Joanna Fife 1809 (9 children: Oscar, Amanda, America, Rachel, James, Mary, Parthena, Catherine and Virginia) most all of whom settled in Indiana (some in Shelby, some in Decatur) 3. Samuel Evans Jones (1784-1843) d. in Shelby Co., IN, buried Row 7, Jones Cemetery, Noble Township; m. Rebecca Fife 1805 (10 children: Matilda, Alfred, James, Catherine, Mary, Rebecca, Samuel Francis, Charles Arbuckle, Rachel, Frances Ann Arbuckle) 4 John M. Jones (1786-1848) d. unknown; m. Elizabeth Lake 1804 (6 children: Mary, Edward, Elizabeth, Jane, Polly, Valentine); m. Jane Parker 1822 no children 5. Levina Jones (abt 1788-d. unk) m. Thomas Boggess 1812 in Monroe Co., VA 6. Uriah Jones (1790-1843) d. Shelby Co., IN buried Row 4 Jones Cemetery, Noble Township; m. Jane Fife 1815 in Monroe Co., VA (10 children: Thomas Jackson, Susanna, Morton, Adaline, Lutitia Ann, Mary Jane, Francis Wesley, Sarah Elizabeth, Rebecca and Valariah) [I am descended through Uriah/Jane's son Morton==>William Marshall==>Harry Edward==>Hiram Robert==>Glenn Charles] 7. Mary Jones (1792-?); m. Edward Fife 1815 (2 children: Andrew Fife, Kiles B. Fife) 8. Elizabeth Jones (1795-1843); no marriage information, apparently lived/died in Monroe Co. 9. Susanna Jones (1797-aft 1852); m. Archibald Campbell 1816 in Monroe Co., VA (figures prominently in her mother's will) (7 children: William, John, Albert Wentworth, Allen Kincade, Robert, Margaret and Mary) 10. James Jones, Jr. (abt 1800 - ?); m. Nancy Myers 1828 in Monroe Co., VA -- no known children 11. Francis Jones (1802-1856); m. (?) Nancy Hendricks Ellis 1828 in Monroe Co., VA. (3 children: Mary, Jane, Amanda). In his will, James Jones refers to his granddaughters as illegitimate, so it is unclear whether Francis and Nancy ever were married. Francis also figures prominently in his mother's will -- he was not in her favor. 12. Nancy Jones (abt.1804-aft.1852); no marriage or children information. I have descendant information on many of these lines, but am always looking to flesh them out. For example, Mary Jones, dau. of Wm. & Martha Jones, m. Azariah Casdorph and their family settled in Charlottesville, WV. I have been in contact with some Casdorph cousins there. I am particularly interested in finding cousins/descendants living in/around Shelby and Monroe counties. Thanks and I hope to hear from some of you. Glenn C. Jones Roseville, CA
