Thanks Maxine, my first working assumption is that Elizabeth was also from the Monroe Co. Aldersons. I'll let you know what I turn up. But the Ellis information from the internet must be in error. I can't believe that James Ellis lived to be 107 y/o and didn't marry until he was 61. Was there by chance any documentation or source material? Maxine, Do you have any indication that Elihu Ellis is related to the Monroe Co. Ellis family? I am familiar with the marriage of Elizabeth and Elihu, but have been unable to determine her parentage either. There was a Mary Alderson (b. 1813) who married Andrew Ellis in Monroe Co. in 1834. Perhaps if there is indeed an Ellis connection it would help identify the Alderson line she is from. Actually, the Church is near the banks of the Greenbrier River which is recognized as the dividing line between Greenbrier and Monroe counties. The town of Alderson is on both sides of the river. Julie McGrew-Ayres mztek@mindspring.com Monroe County WVGenWeb Admin www.rootsweb.com/~wvmonroe

Does anybody have a copy or transcription of the 1781/2 Will of Colonel Fielding Lewis that married Elizabeth "Betty" Washington & Catherine Washington? Elizabeth "Betty" Washington is the sister of General George Washington First President of The United States. Their common ancestors are Augustine Washington and Mary Ball. Catherine Washington and General George Washington First President of the United States are 1st cousins. Their common ancestors are Lawrence Washington and Mildred Warner. thanks in advance, Patrick
Hello Cousins, My lines are so many in these two counties, Greenbrier and Monroe, that if you are reading this we are almost certainly related in some way. Right now I am looking to make contact with more Hoke and Ayers descendents in order to fill out some dead ends. I will happily provide what I have on these two lines with documentation with the understanding that it is a work in progress. bye for now, Bob Zingo in Rochester, NY
