Hello: I am researching the DUNN surname in Monroe Co., starting with a John Dunn, patriot, who takes land in 1782. He married Nancy Harvey. John Dunn was from Albemarle Co., Va where he served as a private in the American Revolution. I am interested in any Dunn reference, anecdote, death, birth or marriage, film, tax list information between the years 1782 and 1820. I welcome the smallest bit of information on any Monroe Co. DUNN. I descend from Edmund Dunn and Polly Harvey who married in Monroe Co. in 1805. They took land in Rush Co., Indiana in 1831. Other Monroe Co. lines - Maddy, Miller, and Kissinger. Sorry, I checked my Helms/Hellems information which is quite thorough, but did not find a Grant Hellems. This covered the Hellems lineage in Monroe, Nicholas, and Summers Co., WV, as well as those ancestors who came through Botetourt, Allegheny, and Craig Cos., VA., as well as Greenbrier Co., WV. Where was your Grant living and approx. what dates? Dorothy Miller
Hi To All, I notice Dorothy H. Miller, talking about Helems from Craig, would you happen to have Grant Helems in your file. He was married to Mary Humphreys. I am looking for a date of death on him. Plus she remarried to Mr. Steverson. Would love more information on him. Sandy in Ohio
Dear Dreama, I have a Derieux ancestor or two, Emily Derieux, who married Henry Hull, son of John Hull and Sophia Derieux. The Henry Hull/Emily Derieux marriage took place in Rockingham Co., VA in 1811. This part of Rockingham Co., Va, eventually became part of Pendleton Co., WV, where my Jacob Baker ancestor m. Mary A. "Polly" Hull in 1811. Hope this is of some help to you. I, too, am still trying to trace the Derieux ancestors, and look forward to hearing from you if you have more luck than I have had. Brief description of Spyware: it is software that is transparently installed onto your computer without your knowledge, typically part of a freeware installation, but also can be the result of accessing a web page, spyware is not detected by anti-virus software. Additionally, spyware sends information about web sites you have visited and often your personal information on your computer to advertisers and is sold to other advertisers... for a more detailed explanation of spyware you can visit the url below... I usually delete this kind of stuff, but I decided to check it out... this is a good utility... some of you know I am a programmer by trade, and I have wrote my own utilities to do what this one does already... I highly recommend this utility to anyone, follow the instructions on the web page and read the *.txt files in the downloaded zip file before installing & you will have no trouble with it... Hi Betty, There is a huge Nickell gedcom file, which includes 3 children for John Nickell and Barbara McCombe, at Ancestry.com. It is #20462. Go there and download it and you will have a great deal on the Nickell line. You can also find the submitter's email while you are there, if they left it. I think I have it here somewhere but I can't lay my hands on it right now. Here is a sample of what you will find. I kept it down to names and dates to make it more readable.
