Don Lowe, et.al., To all those who were exchanging LOWE info last week: do you all have any information regarding a WILLIAM LOWE, JR. of Baltimore Co. MD whose daughter SARAH married NICHOLAS DAY? These are 17th and early 18th Century names. Thanks. Charles in Roanoke
Mary Jo, I'm not familiar with a Beckner Cemetery near Salt Sulphur, but thre are many Beckners buried in the Sweet Springs Cemetery in back of the old Spa that was attached to the old hotel. Also there are some Beckners in the Green Hill Cemetery and some in the Gap Mills Methodist & Carmel Presbyterian Cemetery on the Zenith Road. Also I have a Monroe County Cemeteries book if you need me to look up any of your Beckners. ...jane
JoAnne Martha Ann Lively was apparently married at least 3 times. She was also married to a Mr. Coiner, then on 19 Dec 1895 (Book 2, p. 24/Summers County Marriage Records) she married one of my ancestors, William W. Wickline. They lived, I believe, in the Greenbrier District of Summers County. I have a copy of Martha's death certificate (#14125) which identifies her parents as Jacob Allen and Martha Lively. Info on the D/C was given by J. D. Huffman. She died 17 Oct 1923 (from her D/C) and was buried in the Huffman Cemetery at Hinton. I have 2 birth dates for Martha Ann: (1) 3 Nov 1841 from her tombstone and (2) Nov 1843 from the 1900 Census of Summers County where she was listed as the wife of William W. Wickline. ...jane
I am very interested in anyone working on the Israel MEADOWS line. I would however like to suggest that instead of SUBMIT A QUESTION in the subject line to PLEASE put the surname you are requesting. I have over 500 messages a day and when I see this in the subject line I delete only because I don't have time to read each one to see which surname. I'm afraid that I may miss something important but have to ignore the message. Pat
Thanks anyway! Karen
Karen, I wish I could, but my marriage records only go to 1850. I was wondering if anyone would have any ancestral, family and descendant info for a William Mullins/Mullens (lastly) of Monroe Co., WV. William was apparently born c 1827 and lived with his family in Mercer Co., WV during the 1860 and 1870 Censuses, possibly in Wyoming or Logan Co.'s, WV during the 1880 census and then in Monroe Co. shortly thereafter. His family included wife Abigail (bc 1828), Lorissa ("Rissa") J. (bc 1848), James B. (bc 1849), Elizabeth L. (bc 1851), William F. (bc 1854), Robert M. (bc 1855), Mary A. (bc 1857) and Martha E. (bc 1858). We are related to him through his granddaughter Nettie-Ann Virginia Mullens (bc 1888 in Monroe Co., WV) to "one of" William's daughters and a young Spangler man (Ira Spangler, son of Conrad?). Apparently William's daughter died shortly after Nettie's birth and she was raised by her Aunt Lorissa (Rissa) from the early 1890s-on. ANY ancestral, family or descendant information on William, his children (especially the daughters) OR on any Spangler men who may have been associated with one of William's daughters would be very much appreciated. Thanks very much, Bob
Hi out there. I've seen a lot of people being helped with Sandy's kindness in looking up marriages. Sandy, can I try my luck and ask if you can locate the marriage of James Woods Thomas to a Mary McCreary (between 1872-1878)? Thanks. Karen
Searching for information about Richard D. SHANKLIN, the son of Absalom SHANKLIN and Nancy LUSTER. Richard was born April 22, 1822 In Monroe County. His middle name is possibly Dickson or Dixon. He had 5 brothers and 4 sisters: Alexander C., John Henderson, Andrew Young, Robert Dickson, William P., Nancy Agnes, Tabitha A., Louise and Elizabeth. Quite possibly one of his children was William A. Shanklin, born 3-27-1852. I am seeking any information about Richard, his wife and children. Thanks--Jeanna

Sandra, Reading your other query. I just answered my information on Magert. However, my husband is a descendant of Carr family. Elizabeth Carr born abt 1685 married John Bailey, Jr born abt 1685. They lived in Cople Parish, Westmoreland, VA. Their son was Carr Bailey 1 born 1721 in Faquier Co., VA married Mary Minter born 1733 in Faquier Co., VA. Their son, Carr Bailey 2nd married Catherine Martin and their son, Carr Bailey 3rd born 1778 married 16 July 1800 Mary French (from Spartanburg, So. Carolina) in Rutherford Co., North Carolina. Does this fit your line? Mel & Shirley
The only information I seem to have on Magert is: Katherine Magert married John Fudge (no dates) and they were the parents of Elizabeth Fudge born? married Jacob Miller, Jr born 1726 and they married 1746 -she died 13 March 1777 and buried on Rich Creek. They had 9 children. They moved to Monroe, Greenbrier, (W) VA in 1775. They also lived in Rockingham Co., VA.If I find more information, I will be happy to forward it. Please keep in touch. Shirley
