Hi Dan, I have a James Hutchinson married to Nancy NICKELL of Monroe Co. She was the daughter of George Washington Nickell and Margaret Peggy Nelson. Nancy was b. Sep. 5, 1804 and d. March 9, 1897. Age is about right. Nancy also married a James Hinchman in 1822. Her marriage to James Hutchinson was probably a 2nd marriage as James Hinchman died in Indiana. Regards, Jack Ciaccia

I am seeking ancestral and descendant information, census data, personal data, etc. on the families of William MULLINS and Conrad M. SPANGLER, both of whom lived in Monroe Co. during the 1880s and 1890s. William Mullins/Mullens (bc 1827; dc 1902) apparently lived with his family in Mercer Co., WV during the 1860 and 1870 Censuses, possibly in Wyoming or Logan Co.'s during the 1880 census and then in Monroe Co. shortly thereafter. His family included wife Abigail (bc 1828), Lorissa ("Rissa") J. (bc 1848), James B. (bc 1849), Elizabeth L. (bc 1851), William F. (bc 1854), Robert M. (bc 1855; dc 1925, Monroe Co.), Mary A. (bc 1857) and Martha E. (bc 1858). We are related to him through his granddaughter Nettie-Ann Virginia Mullens (bc 1888 in Monroe Co., WV; my great-grandmother) to "one of" William's daughters and a young Spangler man (Ira Spangler?). Apparently William's daughter died shortly after Nettie's birth and she was raised by her Aunt Lorissa ("Rissa") from the early 1890s-on. As for Conrad Spangler, he was apparently born c 1830 as well (possibly in Monroe Co.) and presumably lived his entire life there. He married a woman by the name of Hannah Elizabeth (maiden surname unknown) during the early 1850s and they had several children including: John Madison Spangler (bc 1856), Theodore (bc 1858), DD (bc 1860) Mary Ann (bc 1865), Ira Lloyd Spangler (bc 1869) and Samuel Benton Spangler (bc 1874). As a sidenote, we know that "a" Spangler male ( Ira? John? another Spangler family altogether?) and one of William Mullins' daughters (Mary or Martha?) were supposedly the parents of Nettie-Ann Mullins (bc 1888). As indicated, Nettie was apparently raised by her "Aunt" Lorissa Mullins and so it is presumed that her parents (a Mullins and a Spangler) never married, for whatever reason. In any event, ANY ancestral, family or descendant information on William Mullins, son Robert M. Mullins, any of William's daughters, Conrad Spangler or son, Ira Spangler (who died c 1899) would be very much appreciated. Thanks very much, Bob

Hi Maggie, Thanks for the info on Susannah V. Wickline. You are probably right as I have not researched the Wickline's at all and undoubtedly, you have. That is one of the reasons I subscribe to this forum -- to find info on the other lines married into the Nickell lines. If you have any marriages into the Nickell or Patton lines (or the numerous other lines that have married to them over the last 250+ years), let me know and I will be glad to share whatever info I may have on them. By the way, William Nelson Nickell would be my wife's 2nd cousin - 3 times removed. Regards, Jack Ciaccia

Hi . . . this may be a long shot but I thought I'd try. I have been trying to find marriage information on a Mary McCreary that married James Woods Thomas between 1871-1873. I haven't found a thing on the McCreary name. They moved to Monroe Co. and then to Summers. I thought maybe family records were translated incorrectly and it could be McClary! Karen
