Also in Monroe Co at the same time are a Susanna Lake McMann Winkleblack(married Henry Winkleblack in 1802, widow of a McMann or McMahon) and Elizabeth Lake Jones(married John Jones in 1804) whose children married later(first cousins). Hi Roy, I have an Elizabeth Leach that was born in the Sinking Creek Area, Monroe County, I don't have my notes in from of me, but I think her father was William or Richard Leach. I think that she was born in the 1800's. Sandy Moten. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [SMTP:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, July 09, 1999 8:22 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [WVMONROE-L] Self introduction Hi all from Texas I am Roy L. Leach, [email protected], and as you can see, gen as in geneaolgy describes my interest in Monroe County, WV. I descend from William Leach from Prince Edward County, VA, and from one of his 9 (?) children...Matthew who came to then the Sinks, Monroe County about 1787. Matthew and several of his brothers migrated to Lincoln County, KY about 1826. Matthew , with his son, John, next appeared as winners in the 1927 land lottery in Georgia. Their names apprear on as residents of Gilmer, Forsyth and Hall County, Ga, With Matthew last listed in the 1860 Forsyth County, GA census as residing in the house of John Leach, with age given as 104 years. I suspect a memory problem. So much for ancesters background. I was born in Atlanta, Ga on April 19, 1924, the first son of Willian Jason Leach and Ella Jane Lawson. I attended schools in Kansas City, MO, Gainesville, Hall County Ga. I graduated from the Univ of TX, El Paso, with a degree in accounting. I was invited to Texas by Uncle Sam in 1942, and with the exception of three absent periods in Saipan and Korea, I have in Fort Worth ever since. I hope this brief biography fits your request for a self introduction. Other than the aboved, I currently have my wife, my four grown children and their offspring, and my genealogy as my sole interests ==== WVMONROE Mailing List ==== RootsWeb is a great site to inspect: http://www.rootsweb.com
Hi! A new, active KEYSER emaillist was started about one week ago. It includes variants of the names, such as, Keiser, Kiser, Kizer, Kyser, etc. We have an archive, and research Keysers from such diverse areas as New York, Canada, Virginia, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, District of Columbia &etc. We are serious about finding our own data, joining clusters of Keysers together, and tracing migratory patterns. We are also interested in tracking them to the "big water," and eventually, beyond. If you have the KEYSER surname in your family tree, won't you consider joining us? And if you cannot do that, and you have some KEYSER data, would you kindly pass a copy of that on to me for forwarding to the group so that some of them could benefit? To join, simply send a blank email with the word subscribe in the subject and body fields, to: [email protected] Please note that that is not rootsweb.com, but listbot.com Then you will receive an email with a password, so that you can visit our archives. It is located at http://www.listbot.com/ Finally, you can post to: [email protected] Unsubscribing is simple, with instructions at the bottom of each post. I hope to have you join us! Please feel free to include any short introduction you care to send, and as little or as much KEYSER data as you care to send, up to at least 20 kB in size (the limit may be 25, but I am not sure). Thanks so much, and if I have already invited you, I wish to apologize. I am trying hard to make this group a success, and I may accidentally invite the same person twice. Lastly, if you know of any other KEYSER researchers who might be interested, please forward this invitation to them so they, too, can have a chance to benefit, and assit us, or, again, at least send their data... Vince

Nancy, This is a long shot, but I'm curious if you have run across the family of Isaac B. Scott in your Scott research. Isaac was b. ca. 1800 in MD, md. in Giles Co., VA in 1822 to Mary Harless, was in Alleghany Co, VA in 1850, Craig Co, VA in 1860, Meigs Co., OH in 1870, and Kanawha Co, WV in 1880, and died in 1881. He was a Campbellite Minister. His children were Andrew, Eleanor, Talitha, and Esmerelda Scott. His parentage eludes me. Hello all, While this is not of a genealogical nature I feel I want to let you know about a problem I had on Sunday July 11th with my email. About 10:00 am Sunday morning I read my email and shut down to go to church. About 9:00 pm that evening I went back online to read mail and you can imagine my horror when I discovered all my email had been deleted (at any given time I keep 10-12 emails as new to refer back to), all my old mail and all my sent mail had also been deleted. Instead of my usual genealogy emails I had a horrible birage of what I call "garbagy smut". According to AOL, somehow someone got a hold of my password (I have never given it to anyone, not even my husband) and went in and changed my profile so that it indicated I wanted to receive this kind of trash. This person then sent trash to others using my screen name. AOL was notified by some of the recipients of this so they sent me a letter of warning (and rightfully so-they also deleted my profile thank goodness). My reason for telling you all this is threefold-one as a warning-I still am not sure what caused this, however, AOL says it possibly came in on an attachment from someone as a "Trojan Horse" thereby causing someone to be able to gain access to my password. They warned to make sure before you open an attachment you know the sender. Sorry to say our world has come to this. Second is that if anyone wrote to me on Sunday July 11th I dare say I did not receive it! Who knows what was deleted! And third is I pray no one on any of the mailing lists I belong to received any garbage from my screen name ([email protected]) but if by some chance you did, please know that it was not I who sent it and I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you for listening to me! Melinda Roles Jacquier P.S. If you belong to more than one mailing list you will probably get this letter more than once-sorry!
