Brenda, First, let me say that I think you are providing a very valuable service. Good Job. My name is Harry Edward Meade and I am a newcomer to this geneology deal. My parents were Wendell Edward Meade and Elizabeth Marcum. Grand parents were General Wayne Meade and Virginia Burgess. With the exception of Mama, who was from Pike Co., Ky, they were all born and lived most of their lives up Old Field Branch, near Mayor, in Mingo. Papa was Justice of the Peace in Mingo for several years and also Deputy State Tax Commissioner for a while. Apparently there was a bad experience with this and few in the family will talk about it. I was born in Marshall County, WV but am told I was conceived in Mingo. I am related to Amanda Meade Brewer. I think she was my Great Aunt. I met her in the 70s at Kermit. She was very old then and has since passed on. It was my understanding that she had done an extensive geneology of the Meade and Brewer families. Samuel Brewer s/o Issac Brewer and Elizabeth Meade who married Rhoda Kirk was born about 1820 and she was born about 1826. Ages were estimated from the 1850 Logan County census, they were married at this time.
