Hello Bert, It's nice to meet you. My paternal great great grandmother was Lewrissa Damron, from Kentucky. Her father was Moses Damron, her mother Charity Adkins. I do not know a great deal about this part of my family. My dad's mother was Alpha Williams, Angie Damron was her mothers maiden name, Lewrissa was Alphas' grandmother. I do know that the family came to Kentucky from Virginia in the late 1700s' or early 1800s'. Do you have any information on anyone that I have memtioned? Hello Pat - Thank you for the reply. I am only slightly familiar with the Moses Damron and Charity Adkins line, as I descend from a different line. I believe that this is the Moses (son of Moses Damron and Jenny Mullins) who, at the age of 12 with his sister Sarah, age 10, brought their 4 orphaned siblings back to Pike Co KY in 1828 from Posey Co IN after Moses (the father) & Jenny (the mother) both died a few days apart. The story is fascinating and can be found in vol. 6, pg. 136 of The Dameron-Damron Family Newsletter, and again in vol. 27, pg. 914. The story can also be found in other publications. If you are unfamiliar with the story, I would be happy to send you a copy. Moses and Charity Adkins are enumerated in the 1850 Pike Co census with 4 children (all girls) one of which is listed as Louisa, age 9. Could this be your great great grandmother, Lewrissa? Our closest common relatives would be Moses Dameron and Aggie Owl (or Ogle), who are my GGGG Grandparents. I descend from their son, Lazarus and Nancy Elizabeth Short, and it appears that you descend from their son, Moses D. and Sarah Adkins. Other members of the Dameron-Damron Family Association would be more knowledgeable than I regarding this family line. You can feel free to contact them. I'm sorry I don't have information about descendants of Lewrissa Damron. Bert Damron On Sep 18, 2004, at 3:33 AM, Patricia Lenhart wrote: > Hello Bert, > > It's nice to meet you. Hello Pat, It would be easier for me to send you a copy of Moses' story via snail mail. I have a copy machine and it would be no trouble and I would be happy to take care of the postage. I would need your address. Feel free to contact me off-list. The web page for the Dameron-Damron Family Association, which contains many goodies, is: http://www.mindspring.com/~ccchaney/ddfa//ddfa.html Cheers, Bert Damron bdamron@comcast.net On Aug 29, 2004, at 7:37 PM, Patricia Lenhart wrote: > Thank you for that information Bert.
