Sherry, What Hanna are you researching? I have done some work on that family and will share what I have if it is the same. In my family the Hanna came from England and laterchanged their name from Hanna to Hannah. Some people call them Hanners. Causby
Causby, Most of my Hanna's settled in Greenbrier County, VA/WV. I have traced them back to the early 1800's. I believe my Hanna's were orginally the Hannah's that came to American from Ireland in the mid 1700's. Prior to that I believe they left(or were ran out) Scotland and headed to Ireland. I am still trying to document all this but have found myself a brick wall. My grandfather Auther Monroe Hanna (born 1886 to Joshua "Bell" Hanna and Eliza Clemons)left Greenbrier County around 1920 landing in Pike county, KY. He changed his name to Monroe Clemons (his mothers maiden name). Shortly thereafter, he met my grandmother Clemmie Blankenship. The eloped one night, married in Logan,WV, returned to Argo, KY where their children were born (including my father in 1929). Sometime later they moved to Sandsiding to raise their family. My grandfather died in 1936 is buried in Sandsiding. I remember as child...sometime around 1960...visiting my grandfathers grave with my cousin. I remember having to cross a swinging bridge to get to his gravesite. I am really just trying to find where he is buried. I would also love to find out why he changed his name. There are rumors. Thanks for writing.
