According to the U.S. Geological Survey GNIS site, there's a stream called Greenbrier FORK that's in McDowell County, just a few miles from the Mingo County line, at the town of Panther. Do you suppose that may have been the Greenbrier your dad remembers? The GNIS site is at URL: http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form. It will show you all the places called Greenbrier in West Virginia. I've discovered, though, that occasionally I can't find a place I'm looking for. Maybe because some of the names have changed.
