Anita....I like that idea about the farmer's cutting the grass. Its a good trade off. Here in Georgia we don't see actual chain gangs anymore but we do see alot of prisoners earning 2 for 1 time off by volunteering to work at various jobs requiring manual labor. We still have armed guards with shot guns and high powered rifles to keep them from wandering off, along with a automatic 5 year escape sentence if they are so inclined to try to run. I hope to be in Mingo, Cabell, Lincoln and a few other counties in early June doing some research. Its always good to get back to the hills I may even dig up some sassafrass roots to bring back.
