Didn't one of you mention Andrew Jackson May? There is a list of those persons buried in the Andrew Jackson May Cemetery on the Floyd County site. Thought you might be interested. Anita
Causby, I am sorry, but this too said "Grayson, Virginia." Part of what is now, Kentucky, was also, Virginia, just like WV. Grayson, Virginia maybe what we now know as Grayson, Kentucky. Anita
Thanks for that. I believe that this is probably the parents of James "Eli, Elijah, Elias" Sturgell, father of Blackburn. What do you think, Causby, Judi? anita
Glenna, The only thing I have is what I posted and the info I posted was sent to me by another cousin. I have done NO research on this line personally so cannot tell you anything about it. Sorry I can't be any help. Deby At 10:56 AM 4/21/2004, you wrote: >Hi Debi: > >Do you have a Nancy Jane Hall? Ed, Thanks for the education. Anita

Causby, That most likely is Grayson, Kentucky. Anita
Judy, Thank you. I knew that I was not spelling it right, but apparently Mr. Webster didn't know about them, either. Anita
Causby, i had none until I just printed your list. Anita
Causby, Thanks for that list. Anita
Causby's grandfather was Henry May, so she may have mentioned that name. She was expecting her new p.c to arrive, and since I have not heard from her, she may be setting it up. Thank you Anita, Judi ----- Original Message ----- From: <Atnvolsgirl@wmconnect.com> To: <WVMINGO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 21, 2004 11:16 AM Subject: [WVMINGO] Causby and/or Judi > Didn't one of you mention Andrew Jackson May? Glenna, the only thing that was passed down to me says that Louise Sturgell, sister to Eli, married Robert York. But like everything else, I am confused on that, too. Anita
Glenna, Well, welcome to the madness! If you have anything to add, please jump on in. Anita
Hi Debi: Do you have a Nancy Jane Hall? I have no dates just the name. Thanks Glenna
Hi All, This is information I inherited from a Justice cousin on my husband's line. From what I can understand, this is the same Sturgill/Hall line that is being discussed. I have done NONE of this research myself but maybe it will add to the discussion. I haven't had time to absorb all of this so am probably not going to be much help in the discussion but hope it helps someone sort this tribe out. Deby Ancestry of Amy Sturgill 1. I totally enjoy hearing these informative stories of our ancestors.Live in northern Ohio also- think I'll purchase and plant a "sarvice" tree :-). (The picture was great :-) ) Thanks, Gail
K Eli married Malinda Clark 1845 in Floyd Co. Ky. in 1860 Floyd Co. Census he is still listed there. So I would assume Pricella Mead Sturgill is buried in Floyd Co. You might check the courthouse records there. Or you can check with Boyd Co. Library and they will check for you through the geneagoly dept. for a donation of $6.00. The adddress is Thebookplace.org. I just had to jump in to this discussion. The tree we commonly call the "Service Tree" or Sarvis Tree is actually the Serviceberry Amelanchier arborea a good picture of it can be seen at (http://www.hawriverprogram.org/NCPlants/Amelanchier_arborea_page.html), From a distance while in bloom the tree looks a lot like a wild dogwood and is one of the earliest bloomers in the Spring. The Sassafras tree is very different and has a very small greenish yellow flower. I do agree however with the lore connecting the "Service Tree" to the Springtime funeral services Ed Griffith
