HI Y'all I was born in Barboursville, Cabell county. Unfortunately we moved from that beautiful country to Columbus, OH when I was thirteen. Both my grandfathers were born, raised and died in WV, one in Mason county and the other in Greenbrier County. My grandfather Farley never stepped foot out of WV and died in Greenbottom at the age 89 in 1997. My Hanna line dates back into the 1700's residing in Greenbrier county. I still have many relatives living in the state. My heart tugs at me all the time to return home. My family surnames are: Farley, Fife, Clemons, Hanna, Blankenship. Lots of Scots in my lines. Danny, When we were growing up and staying with my grandmother during the summe, about once a month Uncle Roel (Ellis) would load us up in his truck and we would head to Williamson or Logan for a day of shopping. Aunt Mabel and Granny in the cab with Uncle Roel and all of us kids in the back. We were each given a dollar or two to buy whatever we wanted or thought we just had to have. Usually it was spent on 45 records and a fountain drink at the 5 and dime. What a time we had! If you ever get to hear the live version of "Love at the 5 and Dime" by Nanci Griffith, it says it all. (Kathi Matha had a hit with the song several years ago, Nanci is the writer of it.) She tells a story of shopping the Woolworth store in downtown Austin, Texas. It just brings it all back to me. Hi Bert, Thank you for the dates for the reunion. I would love to go to one even though my husband is the one decended from Sarah Smith and Samuel Damron. When I first started looking for the family, I was in total shock when I found the two families. Now I find that there were many families that had the same problem. I almost trying to figure it out until Kenneth helped me and also my cousin Gerald Linville. Gerald is my husband's fourth cousin and also my fourth cousin. I love doing family history and wish I could be there in WV to work more on the family. I have met so many nice people and found out they were related to my husband Ray or to myself. Thank You, Jean Collins Terry

I physically "left" WVa in 1960 and now live outside of Raleigh, NC, but my heart has always been in WVa. My husband's family originate from the Pendleton Co. area of WVa and we do manage to visit there several times a year. Karen
Sorry to say that I have never lived in West Virginia. The closest I have come was the 15 years I spent in Athens, Ohio, about 35 miles from Parkersburg. Does anyone here visit the Library in Williamson much? My Dad is in his 60's and we have just found out that his birth father is Earnest (possibly Robert) Fields. I live in florida and am unable to get to the library to do this myself but would be greatly appreciated if anyone could look through the obituarys in the late 60's early 70's for this obituary. I would gladly compensate you for your time. We know his wife's name was lucy and he had a son named Bobby. We also know for a fact that the obituary was in the Williamson Daily News. We just dont know exactly when :( Sherry
