Judi, About the only politician that was in my line was Grandpa Aubrey McClung. He was a member of UMWA and a delegate to the 1946 District 17 convention in Atlantic City, NJ. He also ran for magistrate of either Logan or Mingo County sometime in the 50's. I have a picture of Grandpa dressed in his "Sunday best" standing handsomely behind John Lewis at the convention. I was one of the ten persons who brought UMWA to my work place and in 1999, I became a proud member of District 17. I was also elected to an office -- Grievance Chairperson (go figure? :-). In 2000, I was involved in the "March on Washington to help save the Coal Act". That is one experience I will never forget. I felt like what I was saying really matter to people and their lives. I was a part of the crew that stopped the Fayette County high schools from being consolidated and I was there the day that the superintendent was asked to leave and I was in court when we were asking to have two illegal board members removed. And then campaigned to put board members in that really care about the children and their futures. I have no plans for a future in politics. For now, I plan to stick with my job as a mother and in the little political arena known in these parts as the FHS Football Boosters. Sometimes I think that it is more political than anything that happens in Washington! Anita
Anita, Girl, it sounds like it is in your blood! You have been busy. It all sounds exciting. Hello everyone, I would be interested in hearing any history you might have concerning persons in your line who were or became politicians or people of importance(although all are important to us). In making notations about our W.V folks, and particularly Mingo county. I am pretty much in the dark, and since so many of our lines intertwine, would enjoy knowing. Anxious to hear. Judi
Are there any relatives out there to John H. Bias that married Lucinda Baisden d/o Sarah Ann "Tena" Dempsey (married John Baisden) she is my great-great-grandmother. I still haven't found out when Tena died. In the 1910 Boone County, WV Census Tena is 87 living with son-in-law John H. Bias & daughter Lucinda Baisden Bias. Thanks, Johnny

TED DAMRON It is with a sad and lonely heart that I attempt to write a few words in memory of my beloved husband, Ted Damron, who has gone to rest with God. With all the grief we felt in his passing we are thankful that all of his children were able to be with him during his final days of affictionand they could be present to hear him ask for membership in the Old Regular Baptist Church at Caney Creek, Kentucky, on March 9, 1968, at Jenkins Clinic Hospital, thereby.... assuring us completely that we could let him go knowing he was going to a better place. He was born the son of Auxier and Jane Moore Damron on October 28, 1895 in Mingo county, West Virginia and departed this life on April 3, 1968. Glenna, Working on those McClungs, again. I took the list of my great grandpa's brothers and sisters and have been searching census records for each family. Believe it or not, there are only two that I cannot find some information on. One daughter, we only have a date of birth, but know that she never married, I cannot find after her father died. I am thinking that perhaps she preceeded him in death. And another daughter I cannot find in the 1920 census. Even though the 1920 census is indexed, they may have mispelled the surname (Burr) or her husband would not have been listed as "head of household" if they were living with someone else. From 1880-1910, they were in Nicholas County. However, in 1930, they were in Summers County. So, who knows where they were in 1920. Go figure. Anita
Anita: Thanks, What are you working on? Glenna

Glenna, I got you here. Just doesn't seem to be anyone posting right now. As for me, I am working on another line of family. Bet everyone has wondered where my big mouth (or in this case, big fingers) have been! Have a wonderful day. Anita
