Causby, Thanks for your response. I am thinking you may be on to something. My ancestor said she was born in Breading. I think maybe I am misspelling the community. Her accent may have made Breeden sound like Breading. Do you know if there is a Breading District? Thanks again. So, is that a crossroad or is it a town or should I be saying she was born in Harvey district. Also, is there a Breading District and that is what she meant. I would mind visiting West Virginia and would like to visit the area of birth of this ancestor, but I am just a little confused. Thanks again. Jane
Judi, We used to spend our summers at 27 with Granny and Grandpa. They were the McClungs. Granny was the daughter of Catherine Elizabeth Sturgell Buzzard Runyon. She lived next door. Later on, Aunt Juanita moved in with her. Lindsey and Harthard Sturgell and their families lived there, also. Aunt Mabel (another daughter of Great Granny's) lived there too. I swear, I had the best childhood of anyone. Grandpa McClung used to take my uncle, brother and sister to 22 to swim, but I was always "too little" to go. Ha. Anita
Judi, I have hear that, too. One of the Sturgell, Belcher, Vance cousins told me about it. I don't have plans to attend, but we are making plans to be in Holden that weekend. We are going up to the Vance and Belcher Cemeteries. Anita

Thank you everyone. You have all been so great. I had blank forms within minutes of my posting my question. It does my heart good to know that we can all work together on this stuff. Anita McClung Fayette County, WV

Good morning. Question: Does anyone know how to read a census page from the 1820 census records? There seem to be more columns but they don't appear to be divided like the columns of the later records. Plus, there are no headings and I cannot get a blank one to come up so that I can see how to read it. Any help would be a blessing. Anita McClung Fayette County, WV
Anita, I understand from some cousins who once lived at 22 Holden that there is a reunion this coming Fathers Day for folks from there. They go every year. just a fyi. Ed, I did not realize that the Hardee District was Myrtle. I have ancestors that were in the census there. I guess that the Hardee District may have included Holden #22 and 27 mine "hollers?" After my great grandparents left Fayette County, they were in the Triadelphia District of Logan County. Small world, isn't it? Anita McClung

In respond to your request for Harvey District, in Mingo Co. I believe you are looking for Breeden, WV. It's not a town, but a community. I am familiar with the area, if you are looking for someone, I also have an Aunt and Uncle who are in their 80's and they run the Post Office at Breeden that might be able to help. Causby
I am wondering if anyone on this list can help me with the location of Harvey, Mingo County, West Virginia. Is it near Breeden? Is there a Breading, Mingo County, West Virginia? Any help will be much appreciated. Jane

The surnames include Adams, Berry, Brooks, Brown, Burton, Castle, Chaffin, Daniel(s), Large, Thompson, Ward, Wellman and Young. To fully appreciate their social and economic hardships and challenges requires the reader to visualize what life was like on the early frontier. Whoa... Anita
My grandmother Bessie Dillon, left Mingo in the l920s. Her son, Sid Inglis Jr., was an assistent superintendent of Sacramento, Ca Schools. His sister and my aunt F. Elizabeth Inglis was one of few women lawyers at that time. She attended Mc George Law School in Sacramento Ca. She was a divorce attorney. Talk about ambitious! Donna Carter
Judi, You are very welcome. Talk about in my blood, my father (step) was also the union steward (grievance chairperson) when he worked at the tire plant. Anita
