I am looking for the children of William E Runyon. William E was born 1873 and is the son of John Tyler Runyon and Lucinda Staten. He married Martha Shepherd about 1893 in Logan co WV. I know he had daughters by the name of Lucinda, Polly, and Rebecca Elizabeth, there should be more. Thank you for you time. Mary Hays Luke 13:3 Matthew 16:16 Acts 2:38
I am looking for my family in the Mingo area, but I am having trouble with the census and the district. Can someone tell me what area those districts cover. I think the Hardee is the Delbarton area, I hope someone can help me with the others. I am also looking for my grandfather Aunts and Uncles. His name was Ike Gillman the census for 1910 called him Isaac. His dad was John Gillman 1867 and his Mother was Mary Alice Bolden 1869. My grandfathers brothers are Doc, John, Donald, William Troy, and Shelton Gillman. Sisters are Eliza, Ethal, Bertha, Cora, Nanny, Rosa and Ike twin sister Ivory. I hope someone can help me find these people. Mary Hays Luke 13:3 Matthew 16:16 Acts 2:38
Gail, I asked my Aunt about your Mom and she doesn't remember her. My Aunt was b. 1926 at Marrowbone. She didn't come to Breeden until in the 40's or 50"s. She remembers a Tennessee Dent. Was that your mom's grandmother? Sorry, I couldn't be of more help. Causby

Causby, My late mother was mostly brought up in Breeden, Norma Jean Hager Burgess, daughter of Dorathy, grandaughter of Tennessee, who mostly raised her. By chance does your aunt and uncle remember her? I am sure mom knew them. She was born in 1930 and passed last June. I was in Breeden visiting relatives several weekends ago.I go to visit occasionally, but I haven't been there in several years. It is still a challenge to go over Mud Fork Mountain! I was mostly brought up in Blair, and I visit there a each year. My dad ( Shelby) and I were just there for Memorial Day.I am always moved by the quietude and the natural beauty of the area.Everything is so deliciously green with the soothing sounds of the creek nearby, the mountains embracing all.The corn is already quite tall while we're just now getting our gardens started (N. Ohio).Ah, to sit on the front porch, to swing ,and just be again. It is very gratifying to visit whenever I can. Enjoy. Gail
Ed, I knew that they were together but never realized that they were separated by the county line. Like I mentioned before, Grandpa would never let me go with them to swim. I stayed behind with Granny and dammed up the creek! Anita
Anita I am sure the county line runs at the top of the hill seperating 22 from 27/Scarlet Road. The swimming hole at 22 was always to cold for me. Going from Holden toward Belo 22 is the first road to the left and 27 is the next road to the left, there is one other hollow between them called or used to be called Simmons Fork, this is where the largest Oak tree was at. I have a picture of it on my site. Ed, So, the county line runs between 22 and 27? I never knew that. I just remember that the first one you come to on the 4-lane is 22 and the very next road is 27, now known as Scarlet Road. I was never taken swimming at 22, in the later years we used to hike up to the fire tower. Anita

Anita Hardee/Hardy is the same district, used to be Logan County, West Virginia, 1895 Hardy became Mingo County, West Virginia. 27 Hollow was in Hardee/Hardy, don't know whether 22 Holden was in Hardy/Hardee or not. 22 Holden is in Logan County, by the way, that is where I met my wife, Rosemary Brown. It is a small world. Jane, There is a Hardee and a Harvey District in Mingo Co. Breenden would be in Harvey. I believe it includes Kermit, Lenore, Dingess, and Breeden. I ask my Uncle about Frances Vance and he said he remember him from working in the coal mines, but while he ran the post office he didn't get his mail at Breeden. My Uncle said he thought Frances live in area called East Fork of Twelvepole, which is also Mingo Co. and borders Wayne Co. I know there are a lot of Vances in that area, I looked in the 1900 Wayne Co. Census and I found a Frances Vances in Grant District which is where that area is.
