    3. Hello Bert, It's nice to meet you. My paternal great great grandmother was Lewrissa Damron, from Kentucky. Her father was Moses Damron, her mother Charity Adkins. I do not know a great deal about this part of my family. My dad's mother was Alpha Williams, Angie Damron was her mothers maiden name, Lewrissa was Alphas' grandmother. I do know that the family came to Kentucky from Virginia in the late 1700s' or early 1800s'. Do you have any information on anyone that I have memtioned? 3. I have a deed dated in 1904 and it is a deed from S.P. Kelly and wife Nickitie Floyd Kelly to William B. Mead. In this deed it talks about the Old Mansion House also known as the Ellen Floyd Place. This was on Marrowbone Creek. Would anyone happen to know where this would be located at and if the old mansion house is still standing. Ellen Floyd was Jane Ellen Mead wife of George Rogers Clark Floyd. Thank you K

    3. Hi, I'm Vanessa (Stafford) Allen, and I just recently joined the Mingo list. I received a message about some former Mingo County friends/relatives who weathered out the storm (Hurricane Frances) in Florida. Helen Buchanan, widow of Harold, and their daughter Mary Ann live in Vero Beach, Florida, and they are okay. They lived in Gilbert, West Virginia for many, many years. Helen is in her 80's and lives in a wood-frame house that Harold built years ago, so she went to Mary Ann's cement block house a few days ago. A friend went by Mary Ann's house a while ago to report that Helen's house is okay. There's a tree down across the driveway, but it missed the house. I wanted to pass on the news, in case any of you may know them. Vanessa

    3. Causby, Most of my Hanna's settled in Greenbrier County, VA/WV. I have traced them back to the early 1800's. I believe my Hanna's were orginally the Hannah's that came to American from Ireland in the mid 1700's. Prior to that I believe they left(or were ran out) Scotland and headed to Ireland. I am still trying to document all this but have found myself a brick wall. My grandfather Auther Monroe Hanna (born 1886 to Joshua "Bell" Hanna and Eliza Clemons)left Greenbrier County around 1920 landing in Pike county, KY. He changed his name to Monroe Clemons (his mothers maiden name). Shortly thereafter, he met my grandmother Clemmie Blankenship. The eloped one night, married in Logan,WV, returned to Argo, KY where their children were born (including my father in 1929). Sometime later they moved to Sandsiding to raise their family. My grandfather died in 1936 is buried in Sandsiding. I remember as child...sometime around 1960...visiting my grandfathers grave with my cousin. I remember having to cross a swinging bridge to get to his gravesite. I am really just trying to find where he is buried. I would also love to find out why he changed his name. There are rumors. Thanks for writing. 3. Hello Jean, No, I'm sorry that I don't have information on your Sarah Short. My Nancy Elizabeth Short was born in Russell Co VA probably about 1770, appears in Floyd Co KY before Pike Co was created and, according to Hardesty, came to what is now Wayne Co in 1825. That is all I know about her. Another Short I have is Mary Short who married Billy Bromley and whose daughter, Elizabeth Bromley (b. 1811) married Rev. John Jarrell, son of Jane Jarrell and Lazarus Damron. If any of this rings a bell maybe it will be of some help to you.
