Hello Mary, Do you still live in Wirt County? I had written to you once about a former Sheriff that lived in Elizabeth. Also do you know Elton Brunty from Williamson? He now lives in Mrytle Beach. Thanks for that info. It's tough when there are so many different ways to spell/misspell a name on the Census. Can you tell me anything about Charlotte's parents (Azonder and Cynthia)? I've seen this info before, but can't find anything to verify it. Thanks for taking the time to send this. I truly appreciate it. Brenda, I have place of birth for Jane Maynard as Floyd County, Kentucky. Do you know if this is correct? Was her full name Nancy Jane Maynard? Also I have the same information as you on the date of death for James (Jim) Ferrell. I've tried unsuccessfully to get in touch with Jeff Golomb who's wife is a descendant of James and Elizabeth Ferrell. Connie Chancellor lchance@cox.net
My Maynard line is Jane Maynard who married Valentine Hatfield-- they are my 3 great grandparents. I have Jane b. February, 1835 and died 1906 in Mingo County. She was the daughter of David Maynard. I have a marriage date of August 29, 1853 for Valentine and Jane in Pike Co. KY. Valentine or "Wall" Hatfield was Devil Anse's older brother. Have you checked the archives for Maynard? There has been some discussions off and on over the years I think. David was from North Carolina originally. His father may have been a William Maynard. His wife may have been a Jane Atwood. I need to get around to doing more work on the Maynard line myself. Valentine and Jane Maynard Hatfield lived on Beech Creek...their daughter Nancy Hatfield married Harrison Steele.....They were the parents of Smith Eppison Steele who married Bettie Chafin. S. E. & Bettie were the parents of my Grandpa Harry Steele. Brother of Smith Steele was Dr. Lon Steele. I'm still here, too, although very busy with family matters. Allen's brother James Ferrell who married Elizabeth Cisco [Francisco] is my great grandfather. A month or so ago I posted Elizabeth Francisco Ferrell Duty's obituary to the Mingo Board. I need a date of death for James "Jim" Ferrell. He was dead by the census in 1910, but alive in a picture with family when my grandfather "Tom" [William Thomas Ferrell] was a baby-- Tom was born in February of 1908. I am guessing Jim died about 1909. Mother's Mingo County lines are Steele, Moore, Chaffin, Mounts, Hatfield, etc. I am stuck on Thomas MOORE died 1925 and buried at Devon who worked for the railroad at Thacker. I do not know which Morre family he was part of..... I have several Maynards in my database but no direct line. The closest Maynard to my Ferrell line is Mont Maynard who married Letitia Ferrell, wife of Richard Ferrell.
